Duration:
This is a temporary position from 17 June – 2 September 2026. You will work a minimum of 40 hours between 07:00-23:30 daily Monday to Sunday, although additional hours may be required. You will be working on a rota basis with the Site Manager to ensure that a supervisor is always present. Regular late night and weekend work will be required.
Job Purpose Summary:
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Deputy Site Managers, will support and work with the Site Manager to direct the Site Assistants to deliver a safe and secure event site. This will involve working in a collaborative way with multiple stakeholders to deliver the Edinburgh Castle Arena.
Key Duties:
- Site Security/Safety:
- Support the maintenance of a secure site, keeping members of the public from accessing restricted areas
- Handover the site each evening to the security team and brief them accordingly
- Coordinate vehicle access to the site, working closely with HES Esplanade team and site security
- Support the completion of daily safety checks and maintain a live log of all health & safety issues, managing the data to be reflective of each hazard/incident status via Safety Culture
- Coordinate requests for personnel access to the site, ensuring that visitors are appropriately accredited
- Support the completion of site inductions for contractors and relevant staff
- Manage any initial response procedures e.g. fire alarms
- Site Logistics:
- Coordinate with the Senior Site Project Manager and Site Facilities Team to ensure the site is kept clean and clear of waste
- Support the set-up of the site on show days such as by ensuring rest areas are set up as per specifications for each event
- Work with the site stewards and event team to ensure event signage is in situ prior to each event
- Support the management of the site event equipment storage and maintenance
- Site Management:
- Deputise in the absence of the Site Manager
- Support the management of the Site Assistants including creating rotas and managing absences
- Responsible for ensuring that the strategy and tasks set out by the Site Manager are completed to a high standard, reporting progress to the Site Manager in a timely fashion
- Manual handling work will be required
- Ad hoc support to Tattoo core staff
Essential Criteria:
- Supervision experience
- Stewarding / event / site management experience
- Awareness of Health & Safety at work legislation, with demonstrable understanding and application of skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Approachable, helpful, and confident
- Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships
- Proficient in Microsoft Packages
- Over 18 years of age
Desirable Criteria:
- First Aid Qualified
- Health & Safety at work qualification
- Security Industry Authority licence holder
- Foreign language skills
- Knowledge of ASANA project management and/or Safety Culture
