We are proud to be a High Performance Learning World Class School, whose values underpin the daily life of the school and are key to achieving our core mission and aims. We expect applicants to be aware of and share our HPL philosophy. Westbourne is also a Voice21 Oracy School: we place oracy at the heart of our teaching and learning across all subject areas, enabling students to develop and deepen their knowledge and understanding through talk in the classroom.

[All staff] have very high expectations for pupils’ behaviour. Pupils… have remarkably positive attitudes to learning… pupils focus during lessons and have excellent working relationships with adults.

Behaviour in the school is exemplary… they described the school like “one big family”… [the school] provide pupils with exceptional wider opportunities… pupils are proud to represent their school.’

‘Leaders consider the well-being of all members of the school community. The school is a positive, happy environment.'

HPL Accreditor (July 2025):‘During the visit to Westbourne Primary School, the assessor was particularly impressed by the growth mindset, confidence in their teachers and sense of community ethos demonstrated by all… The pupils are a real strength of Westbourne Primary School: engaged, reflective and articulate…

Westbourne Primary School truly is an exceptional school that others can look to for inspiration…’

• Work with the Staff and Curriculum Leaders to enhance the curriculum within a knowledge-engaged approach;
• Liaise with the school’s expert practitioners to refine our inclusive and evidence-informed Teaching & Learning framework.

This post includes a teaching commitment of around 2.5 days.
