Responsible to:            Day Services Co-ordinator

Job Purpose

To provide a high quality service to older people in our Redwood Day Centre.

Job Description

  Provide support for older people which respects their dignity and privacy.

  Participate in and contribute to the delivery of high quality support to clients.

  Make written observations to support individual support plans.

  Deliver and assist with a wide range of day centre client activities.

  Act as an escort on AUKS minibus.

  Assist with serving meals to clients.

  Participate in client activity discussion groups.

  Ensure that the Day Centre is always clean, attractive and tidy.

  To abide by and implement all policies and procedures of Age UK Sunderland,
including being aware of and responsible corporately and as an individual for
Health and Safety policy.

  To abide by the principles of GDPR and Age UK Sunderland’s confidentiality and

safeguarding policies.

  To undertake all reasonable tasks, in keeping with the level of responsibility of

the post, as requested by the Director.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

NVQ 2 Health and Social Care.

Experience of and ability to provide support for frail older people.

Understanding of and empathy with the needs and aspirations of older people.

Ability to support older people in a caring, respectful and courteous manner.

Ability to keep appropriate written records.

Understand the need to respect confidentiality at all times.

Ability to work in a team and to use own initiative as appropriate.

Be prepared to work flexibly to meet changing needs and cover for other staff as
required.

Demonstrate common sense, punctuality and reliability.

Willingness to participate in any training considered necessary to fulfil this role.

Good general standard of education.

Relevant experience of working in a day centre setting

Good understanding of GDPR

Good understanding of safeguarding alerter process
