Data and Technology Policy Lead
Data and Technology Policy Lead
At UK Biobank, we manage one of the most richly detailed and widely used health datasets in the world. As the scale, complexity, and use of this data continues to grow, so too does the importance of clear, forward-thinking policy that supports secure research.
We’re now looking for a Data & Technology Policy Lead to help shape how UK Biobank approaches data governance, emerging technologies, and responsible data use. This is a role at the intersection of policy, technology, and research — influencing how data is accessed, protected, and used to drive meaningful scientific discovery at the world’s most widely used medical database.
As a welcoming and inclusive organisation, we value collaboration, thoughtful judgement, and people who are motivated by working on challenges that have real-world impact.

Can you do it?
This is a strategic role supporting the development and delivery of UK Biobank’s ambitious data and technology agenda.
The role involves shaping areas such as data governance, platform security, and new technology partnerships. You’ll work closely with the Director of Data Policy, as well as colleagues across Data & Technology, Data Management, Legal, and Engagement Teams — ensuring the organisation makes informed decisions about how our data is used and managed at scale.
You’ll also contribute to major transformation initiatives, such as our next generation Trusted Research Environment (TRE). Helping ensure policy is embedded into delivery, while engaging stakeholders and communicating complex topics clearly.
