About the service
Willow House is a mental health crisis recovery house providing short-term support (typically 3–7 days) for individuals in crisis. The service has seven bedrooms and operates with 24-hour staffing.
Waking night staff play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and stability of the service overnight, supporting residents throughout the night.
The people we support are central to everything we do. Each person is unique and deserves to be treated as such, so responsibilities may vary day to day.
You may also be required to work across other local Waythrough services where needed.
About the role
You will support people to:
- Manage and improve their physical and mental wellbeing
- Develop life skills and coping strategies through 1:1 and group interventions
- Live more fulfilling lives with a sense of purpose
- Take control of their own choices and decisions
You will also ensure the safe running of the service by:
- Monitoring resident wellbeing and welfare throughout the night
- Maintaining a safe, calm and respectful environment
- Following policies, procedures and legal requirements
Key responsibilities
- Carry out regular welfare checks and respond to overnight needs
- Maintain accurate and timely records using internal systems
- Support with risk assessments and ensure these are followed
- Maintain the health and safety of the building
- Liaise with external services where required
- Contribute to effective team communication and handovers
Managing your workload
- Work independently during waking nights while remaining part of a wider team
- Prioritise tasks and respond to emerging situations
- Keep up to date with organisational developments
- Maintain your own wellbeing through supervision and team support
About you

- The ability to respond calmly to sensitive and complex situations
- Confidence working independently during waking nights
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- The ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills

- Ability to work under pressure
- Good IT skills (including databases, email and Microsoft Word)
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day rota
