About the role 

We are currently recruiting an ATR / DRR Recovery Coordinator to join our Criminal Justice Team at Newcastle Treatment & Recovery. Our team provides support for individuals who are experiencing problematic substance use. Our aim is to strengthen our existing strong Criminal Justice pathways into treatment for people effected by opiate, non-opiate and alcohol use. As part of the role, you will be working with a caseload of service users who are on court ordered Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATRs) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRRs), providing specialist, tailored and intense support to enable service users to make positive changes to their lives, working collaboratively alongside external agencies including Probation, Prison and Court. • Be a main point of contact for Court as well as other Probation and Criminal Justice Partners, to ensure that partnership working is effective and to give the best possible care to complex individuals.
• Provide targeted support for service users, from brief interventions through to structured treatment, ensuring that every recovery journey is tailored to individual priorities.
• Provide intensive support to those serving court ordered ATRs and DRRs, consisting of weekly appointments where you will be supporting them in achieving their treatment goals.
• Be an integral member of our dynamic treatment teams, working closely with team leaders and partners developing and delivering tailored support including recovery planning and case management to enable service users to make positive changes across all stages of their recovery journey.
• Offer tailored guidance in minimising harmful behaviour and support those involved with the Criminal Justice System into continued engagement with the service, to hopefully contribute towards reducing re-offending or relapse.
• Identify and prevent potential harm to service users and others by following local and organisational safeguarding guidelines, including referral to and engagement with relevant safeguarding authorities.
• Develop and deliver quality programmes and packages of work / psychosocial interventions that meet local need.
• Support delivery of key service functions through actively participating in drug screening, duty work, access to BBV testing and immunisation service provision, prescription management, community needle exchange services and the ongoing delivery of appropriate, tailored alcohol and drug harm reduction interventions.
• Take a 'whole person' holistic approach, ensuring that every service user's package of care encompasses all areas of their wellbeing, not just their substance use, to achieve the best possible outcomes for every person.
• Promote visible recovery across the service and ensure peer support opportunities are relevant and accessible for all service users.
• When required, to co-work with Probation, including working at offsite locations such as satellite sites and Probation Offices.
• When required, to complete suitability assessments for Alcohol Treatment Requirements and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements and complete court reports resulting from these, liaising with staff from Courts when doing so.
