The Role

As a Criminal Justice Practitioner, you will work with individuals involved in the Criminal Justice System who are facing complex challenges and seeking treatment or support.

You will collaborate with a range of agencies—including courts and Essex Police—to ensure people are referred to the right services and supported as they reintegrate into the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing assessments for individuals subject to Conditional Cautions, Community Resolutions, or Drug Test on Arrest requirements, delivering structured harm¿reduction interventions, and arranging onward referrals

  • Attending local courts to support individuals through proceedings and connecting them with treatment and support services

  • Providing relapse¿prevention support and developing care plans

  • Building strong working relationships with partner agencies

  • Supporting individuals leaving custody to engage with community services

  • Undertaking the support of people with multiple and complex needs as required

About You

To join us as a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker, you will bring:

  • Experience in problematic substance use, mental health, or a comparable field

  • Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to build networks that benefit clients and services

  • Experience managing a caseload and strong organisational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word, and familiarity with relevant database systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience developing person¿centred care plans, working with community or criminal justice services, or supporting reintegration and resettlement would be an advantage.
