We are seeking a motivated Cricket Development Coach to deliver high‑quality coaching, grow cricket participation, and inspire players across Burnley and the wider community!

Department: Sports Development Coach

Location: Various locations across Burnley and Pendle

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 15 hours per week, worked across 6 days

Salary: £22,300 - £24,500 per annum

The Role

The Cricket Development Coach (CDC) supports the Sports Development Manager in delivering and developing the Cricket Academy in partnership with Nelson & Colne College and Accrington & Rossendale College.

The role involves planning and delivering high-quality coaching sessions for academy players while also leading community cricket programmes across Burnley and the surrounding areas. The CDC helps increase participation in cricket by delivering engaging sessions for a wide range of ages and abilities, from children aged 5 through to adults, promoting both skill development and a lifelong involvement in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality cricket sessions that engage, motivate, and support the development and progression of young people.

  • Engage, inspire, and empower participants to help them reach their full potential.

  • Work effectively with individuals and groups from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.

  • Plan and deliver adaptable and engaging sessions that meet the needs of all participants.

  • Communicate information clearly and accurately in familiar coaching and learning environments.

  • Demonstrate the ability to understand the motivations of others and positively influence engagement and behaviour.

  • Show a willingness to support the development of others when guidance is available, while actively seeking opportunities for personal development.

Talent Pathway

  • Identify talented individuals within programme delivery and refer them into appropriate development pathways where applicable.

Service Delivery

  • Work closely with the Sports Development Manager to support the promotion and delivery of Sports Development programmes.

  • Carry out programme-related tasks as directed to ensure high-quality delivery and engagement.

  • Work in partnership with Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) and Burnley Football Club departments to support community initiatives identified by the Sports Development Manager, CEO, and Board of Trustees.

Administration and Measuring Impact

  • Maintain accurate registers and update the organisation’s database to record attendance and participation.

  • Demonstrate IT literacy by logging incidents and relevant information on compliance systems.

  • Manage and prioritise workload effectively to ensure deadlines and targets are met, seeking support where necessary.

General

  • Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are implemented across all programme activities.

  • Understand and follow the Charity’s Safeguarding Policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines, ensuring safe working practices and appropriate reporting of concerns.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours where required to meet the needs of the role.

  • Work towards agreed objectives and performance targets.

  • Comply with all Charity policies and procedures.

  • Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional and positive manner.

  • Support colleagues and contribute to other areas of the organisation where required to promote best practice.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Attend relevant training and continuous professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Level 1 in Coaching Cricket.

  • Experience of planning and delivering regular cricket coaching sessions.

  • Full clean driving license with access to own transport.
