County Engagement Team Recovery Worker

Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Leicestershire and Rutland Substance Use Services as a Recovery Worker based within our County Engagement Team. Within the role you will focus on:

  • Supporting new service users into treatment by offering proactive engagement support
  • Thorough assessment of individual needs completing comprehensive assessments on a daily basis both face to face and over the telephone with people accessing the service.
  • Completion of initial risk assessments and recovery plans to reduce risks associated with substance use
  • Ensuring new service users are appropriately supported at the front end of treatment to maximise the likelihood of ongoing engagement and positive change occurring

This post is based in our Coalville Hub. There may be times where travel is required to one of our other Turning Point LLR hubs to support the wider County Engagement Team or to attend meetings.

Role Responsibility

You’ll have an understanding of substance and alcohol use and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. However, we also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. The roles are varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital but we can help to shape these skills where needed. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation. We value individuals with lived experience but also those who are just interested in this line of work.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a highly effective communicator, efficient and organised and have a real passion for supporting service users to engage in treatment. You must be engaging, enthusiastic and passionate, have a keen interest in substance use support.

Starting salary £25,870 with annual pay progression up to £30,265 (Dependent on experience you may be offered a salary above the initial starting salary).

Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role or to be a specialist in your field as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner at Turning point we will support and encourage you on your career journey.
