We aim to empower survivors of modern slavery and exploitation to recover from their pasts and rebuild their futures. We aim to reduce the risk of re-exploitation, to create and implement models of best practice and to share this knowledge with other agencies and individuals nationally and beyond. What we do: We support survivors through personalised, one-to-one help from our amazing team of trained staff, volunteer caseworkers, and counsellors. We also connect people to local services, support networks, and community programmes, depending on what they need. Our team helps turn houses into homes by decorating, painting, and finding essential furniture for those moving into council-provided housing. 1 We also share our knowledge through training and workshops with other charities, businesses, and organisations working in this field—helping to build a better understanding of trafficking and how to support survivors well. To keep our work going, we raise money through events, donations, and sponsorships. We also contribute to national research and working groups so that survivors’ voices are heard and included in future policies and practices. By removing barriers to access, fostering About the Role: Funded by The National Lottery Reaching Communities, we are looking for a passionate and motivated manager, who is aligned with our clinical approach, to cultivate and grow the counselling service in line with our mission to see survivors of modern slavery and exploitation recover from their experiences and thrive. This role is responsible for leading a team, developing the counselling offer and contributing to systems change within the UK through social policy and research. The counselling team currently consists of two part-time senior counsellors, self- employed therapists and complimentary therapists who offer one to one counselling and group wellbeing sessions, trauma yoga, shiatsu and acupuncture as part of our “bottom- up” approach. The counselling manager will also provide some direct delivery of therapeutic support to clients; provide line management supervision for the senior counsellors and data and information to the Head of Operations. Management and Leadership: 2 This role will provide leadership and line management to members of the counselling team to promote reflection, wellbeing and innovation within the counselling service. This includes holding regular counselling team meetings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and supporting and developing them in their work. As this is a management role, you will also contribute to regular operational team meetings, collaborating with other service managers to collaborate, foster and leading shared values across the operational teams. This also includes: • • • • • To raise the profile of Snowdrop Project amongst key clinical stakeholders and partners, upholding the Snowdrop values when representing the charity in public and working within the office Reporting examples of best practice, evidence, data and case studies for reporting to our funders, trustees and for future funding and partnership opportunities To participate in internal and external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary Operating as a safeguarding lead within the organisation To handle any clinically related complaints that may arise or escalate these where necessary Therapeutic service development: In collaboration with the counselling and leadership team and (where appropriate) in consultation with service users, this person will be responsible for developing the therapeutic service delivery of Snowdrop. This includes: • Maintain and develop the referral, assessment, triage and monitoring • • • • process with a creative and innovative approach Identify and, in conjunction with the leadership team, counselling team and local partners, develop opportunities to extend and/or develop services to meet identified needs Lead on the maintenance, creation and development of policies and procedures to maintain and continually improve the standards of clinical and therapeutic practice at Snowdrop in line with the organisation and BACP ethical framework Contribute to an end of year report for the CEO and Board of Trustees Support the Head of Fundraising with grant applications or funding appeals to help develop the therapeutic service • Work with the Head of Operations and operational team to establish effective ways of listening to service user views on service delivery and development Being part of the Snowdrop Team: To work with the team to provide excellent service delivery and support for service users in line with the mission, vision and values of the Snowdrop Project. This includes the following: 3 • • To participate in any team meetings and service development sessions as part of the Snowdrop Team To support with fundraising activities as part of the Snowdrop Team Training and research: Where relevant and feasible within time constraints, this role will contribute towards internal and external training development and research to contribute towards furthering best practice. Personal and Role Development The Snowdrop Project values investing in the continuing professional development of staff and volunteers and therefore will invest in training opportunities where possible. A budget has been set aside to contribute to professional fees, required CPD hours and your individual wellbeing. Furthermore, the project will provide clinical supervision either from internal or external sources from a qualified professional. 4 Person Specification Essential Desirable Qualifications , training and registration • • Level 6 or above qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology or equivalent qualified to at least diploma level • • Accredited with BACP, UKCP or equivalent professional therapeutic body Additional therapeutic qualification e.g. CBT Trauma specialism e.g. EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, trauma informed, NET, art therapy, mindfulness • Qualified clinical supervisor Experience • Providing line management • Experience working with supervision interpreters • Experience working as a counsellor or psychotherapist post-qualification • Experience developing and leading a service • Post-qualification experience providing therapy to those experiencing trauma • Experience managing dealing with risk and safeguarding issues • Experience of project monitoring and evaluation • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team • Working with survivors of human trafficking in the community • Experience working with vulnerable people, BAME community, Asylum seekers and/or refugees in the community Knowledge • Extensive working knowledge of the impact of trauma on individuals • Knowledge of the UK systems that surround trafficking • An understanding of different • Knowledge of the complex modalities and a bottom-up approach to trauma therapies • A strong understanding of ethics and professional boundaries • IT Literacy, proficiency with Microsoft Office issues surrounding vulnerable adults/refugees and asylum seekers Skills/Ability • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with a range of different people including service users, volunteers and other professionals. • Ability to lead compassionately and collaboratively with a coaching and • Skilled at writing detailed reports, for courts etc 5 Personal qualities and attitude strengths-based approach • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team • Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to challenges • Ability to delegate • Excellent record keeping skills • Organised with a good attention to detail • Alignment with Snowdrop Project’s Misson, Vision and Values • Alignment with and commitment to Snowdrop’s therapeutic approach • Disciplined at managing own time and workload • Values collaboration and can give and receive feedback 6
