Discover the craft of TV costume, supporting designers and assistants while developing the skills to start your career in wardrobe.

Since producing the now legendary Brookside, Lime Pictures has gone on to deliver some of TV’s most iconic programmes. Our shows cover a wide range of genres from reality to scripted drama. For over 30 years we’ve pioneered new formats, using TV not only for on-screen storytelling but as an off-screen platform to reach younger audiences. Our shows have also won countless awards including the Double Daytime Emmy winning Free Rein for Netflix, Multi award winning Hollyoaks and of course, the BAFTA winning reality series The Only Way is Essex for ITV.

As a costume intern, you will have the opportunity to shadow and observe the costume assistants and costume supervisors both on shoot and in the office. You will work closely with the costume runner, assisting with daily tasks to support the assistants, supervisors and designers. There will be general administrative duties in the office, as well as assisting with the general care of costumes and accessories, including washing and ironing.

Key activities

  • Assisting with the care and maintenance of the costumes and accessories
  • Assisting in the de-rig of costumes throughout the day
  • Admin duties and general upkeep in the costume office as required
  • Supporting the designers, supervisors and assistants as required

What you'll learn

The costume intern will gain a great overview of costume within television and the production process, they will learn how costumes move from script - concept - fitting and finally to screen. They will gain a good understanding of how to take care of specific garments, the importance of continuity, how costume choices signal character and their individual look, and how to look after artistes and their individual needs. By the end of the internship, they will be in a position to apply for entry level costume roles within the industry.
