Artistic Director, Director of Dance Training, Dance
Tutors, Pianists, Pastoral and Medical Team, Sixth
Form Academic Teachers.

To be agreed. Monday – Friday - majority of hours
to be within school hours (8.20am-5.30pm). Term-
time only.

To impart a solid knowledge of Contemporary technique/s and performance to students,
in either dynamic release- based (Limón) and or Cunningham techniques.
To nurture each student to maximise his/her dance potential. To support colleagues and
work  whole-heartedly  for  the  good  of  the  School.  To  keep  abreast  of  educational  and
dance related developments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Principally, the preparation and teaching of contemporary classes students aged 14 to 19+
according to the Elmhurst Handbook.
The weekly planning of each class with reflections on possible improvements in
methodology.
Support students in preparation for regular assessment and take part in assessment
classes and subsequent feedback.
The monitoring of students’ progress and the encouragement of student self-assessment
through the following: -
o  Tutorials to be carried out as per policy
o  Contribute to progress Review days Parents/Students
o  Writing reports, as required
Lead performance sessions with the students to increase and support their performance
abilities and repertory knowledge.
The sensitive handling of students’ emotional needs, giving constructive feedback
encouragement and promoting self-confidence.
Follow the school’s behaviour point system as appropriate using SIMS (the schools
management system).
Supervising rehearsals as and when needed within designated working hours.
Coaching students for and accompanying them to performances if needed
Chaperoning students on off-site vocational visits, if needed
Undertaking administrative duties, in line with the role.
Attending staff and other meetings and INSET sessions as required.
Attending Statutory Safeguarding Training.
Help with/support/coordinate all public performances as required.

To be prepared to undertake such other tasks as the Director of Dance Training/ Artistic
Director or Principal may reasonably deem necessary- such as supporting school events or
contributing to the school’s additional programmes.

General

1.  There might be opportunities to choreograph work for showcases/performances as requested and

in discussion with Director of Dance Training/Artistic Director.

2.  Attend and participate in staff and working group meetings and training as appropriate.

Good general education appropriate to the post.

QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
