Due to high demand, we are seeking an experienced English specialist to work with us as a freelance Consultant CPD Manager. This role involves delivering high-quality professional development workshops to Further Education colleges across England, with an anticipated concentration of workshops in London and the South of England, although travel to other parts of the country may be required.

Location: Across England depending on college bookings (Hybrid)

Hours: 4 Workshops per month + agreed administrative hours (flexible)

Salary:  £400 per Workshop, £30 per hour administrative work + travel expenses covered

Contract: April 2026 – December 2026

Proposed Start date: April 2026

About the role

We expect the Consultant CPD Manager to deliver on average approximately four in-person workshops per month (often Wednesdays), focusing on evidence-informed teaching practices for GCSE English resit provision.

All workshops have been designed and created by the CPD team at Get Further, informed by research into what works in CPD so this is predominantly a delivery focussed role.

In addition to workshop delivery, the consultant will be expected to complete a small number of administrative hours per month (agreed in advance) to support planning, communication with partner colleges and reporting. The timing of this work will be flexible.

Travel will frequently involve long-distance journeys within England depending on your location. We cannot guarantee a minimum number of engagements. Workshops will be requested depending on college bookings.

About you

We are looking for a Consultant who has the following skills:

  • A strong English teaching background, ideally at GCSE level in Further Education
  • Experience delivering CPD to teachers and middle leaders
  • Confident delivering training rooted in the science of learning and research-informed teaching practice
  • The ability to model excellent teaching and guide teachers in practical classroom strategies
  • Comfortable travelling long distances across England, with regular visits to London and the South
  • Reliability, organisational skills and the ability to represent our programme and organisation with professionalism and credibility
  • The ability to build rapport with teachers and leaders at partner colleges
