Confidential Secretary at The Lighthouse
Fixed Term Contract – Part Time
Hours: 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesdays 8.30 am – 4.30 pm)
Term-time only (39 weeks)
Fixed Term Contract to 22nd July 2026
Rate of Pay: £18,496 - £23,447 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect the number of days worked)

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Confidential Secretary who will be based at The Lighthouse, Kingsteignton. Our ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork and communication skills, will actively champion the Trust’s values and maintain a professional attitude that is representative of Breakthrough Transformation Trust.
The successful candidate will be an efficient and well-organised person able to support the Head of Centre and perform a wide variety of administrative and confidential duties. We require you to be an experienced and adept user of Office 365, Word and Excel.
As the first point of contact for students, staff, parents, prospective parents and external professionals, the role demands a cheerful and positive demeanour and attitude, excellent communication skills, a high level of integrity and resilience combined with sensitivity and understanding.
The role will include but is not limited to:
- Liaison between centre staff and across the organisation
- General reception and administrative duties including centre petty cash
- Recruitment and New Staff Starter administration
- Maintaining the Single Central Record and confidential files for centre staff, completing DBS applications and teacher checks
- Recording and Monitoring Staff Absence using Breakthrough’s systems
- Keeping centre resources relevant and up-to-date
- Adhering to and facilitating GDPR protocols and procedures
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with children, young people and their families
- Recording and Monitoring of Student Absence using Breakthrough’s and external systems
- Managing of all Student Administration
- Safeguarding protocols and procedures
We are a registered Independent Specialist College for post-16 and provide alternate provision for compulsory school aged students (Y1-Y11).
