COMPLIMENTARY THERAPIST
Salary: Up to £10,000 per annum
Hours: 15 hours per week (two full days)

Overview: Our residents are at the heart of everything we do at the Meath Epilepsy Charity with person-
centred planning we make sure that everyone remains focused on achieving their goals and to maintain
their independence as much as possible.

Job Purpose: To work alongside our Health and Wellbeing team to provide complementary therapies to
our residents, such as reflexology, aromatherapy, and hand, foot and head massage, on a 1-1 basis.

This role involves planning and delivering personalised treatments, keeping clear and accurate notes, and
maintaining a safe, calm and supportive environment for those in our care.

Key Responsibilities Include:

•  Deliver safe, effective and sensitive complementary therapies to residents and external clients on

a 1-1 basis as part of the Health and Wellbeing team

•  Support residents to achieve and maintain their physical potential
•  Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with residents, colleagues and families
•  Create individual treatment plans tailored to each resident’s or client’s needs and circumstances
•  Encourage positive health and wellbeing outcomes
•  Provide regular feedback regarding residents’ wellbeing to the Health and Wellbeing team and

care staff

•  Share knowledge and guidance with care staff where appropriate to help maintain continuity of

care

Liaise with the Physiotherapist / Nurse throughout as required

•  Maintain clear, accurate and up-to-date treatment records
•
•  Review and evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and share findings with the wider team
•  Ensure all practice is safe, appropriate and in line with best practice guidance
•  Maintain a clean, professional and welcoming therapy space

The responsibilities listed above are not exhaustive, and the post holder may be asked to undertake
additional duties in line with the needs of the service.

Qualifications & Professional Requirements:

•  We are looking for someone who holds:

ITEC, VTCT, City & Guilds or equivalent Level 3 Diploma (minimum) in Reflexology
ITEC, VTCT, City & Guilds or equivalent Level 3 Diploma (minimum) in Aromatherapy
ITEC, VTCT, City & Guilds or equivalent Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy or recognised
training in hand, foot and head massage

In addition, the successful candidate will:

•  Be a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. Federation of Holistic Therapists,

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, Association of Reflexologists or equivalent), or
willing to obtain membership

•  Hold appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance where required
•  Have (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check

Experience working with individuals with complex needs, or within a care environment would be
welcomed.
