We are on the lookout for experienced individuals with a calm and understanding nature to join our team in Penicuik as a Complex Needs Practitioner Level 1 on a full-time, permanent basis (39 hours per week).

The Role

As a Complex Needs Practitioner, you will be part of a dedicated and friendly team, supporting individuals with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care. You’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends. Some individuals have complex communication needs and use different communication tools to meet their needs.

In our service we use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to; posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.

To be an amazing Complex Needs Practitioner, we’ll need you to bring:

  • Experience in a care setting
  • Knowledge of care plans
  • An empathetic and caring nature.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence in using computers.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and on your own.
  • Good organisational skills.

Shift Patterns

Our team provide 24/7 support, including early shifts, late shifts and sleepovers. This role will also include working weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
