Job Description

Job Title: Community Wellbeing Coordinator.

Salary: £28.500 pro rata – part-time hours

Reporting to: Head of Community Wellbeing Services (HoCWS)

Location: Community based across sites in the Dacorum & surrounding area

Job Context

Sunnyside  Rural  Trust  supports  young  people  and  adults  with  learning  disabilities
and  autism  by  offering  training  and  employment  opportunities  within  a  social
enterprise  and  therapeutic  setting.  We  offer  a  wide  range  of  employment
opportunities  including  growing  and  selling  fresh  produce,  café  and  coffee  shop,
poultry  keeping;  PAT  testing;  gardening  design  and  maintenance;  allotment
makeovers;  and  growing  and  selling  a  wide  range  of  plants  including  Dacorum
Borough Council bedding plant contract. We sell our produce and services through
our farm shops, local networks, regular markets stalls and local events. We remained
open  during  Covid-19  pandemic  and  offer  an  increasing  amount  of  therapeutic
support through animal care, art, crafts and horticulture to meet the significant rise
in people’s anxiety levels and the challenges they face.

This National Lottery funded community wellbeing project, is committed to improving
the quality of lives through access to meaningful activities for adults with a learning
disability, those on the autistic spectrum and some with mild mental health needs
coping with anxiety, depression or social isolation. It will offer people the opportunity
to engage in purposeful activities that not only improve physical and mental health
and  well-being,  but  also  foster  a  sense  of community,  and  allow  the  development
and strengthening of their skills and abilities.

Role Responsibilities

•

In collaboration with HoCWS design and deliver high quality, person led
services for people with learning disabilities, on the autistic spectrum, mild
mental health needs and people whose mental and emotional wellbeing has
been affected by the 2020 pandemic.

•  Work across three, or potentially four sites delivering SRT wellbeing group

activities.

•  Raise awareness of the project and network with potential partners to

encourage referrals to the project.

•  Support the receipt, assessment, processing, and allocation of potential

participants of the projects timetabled activities.

•  Support the collation of project related monitoring and evaluation.
•  Conduct related admin and record keeping for the project.
•  Support participants to set, review & achieve goals.

Management of Risk:

•  Ensure that all Health & Safety and biosecurity requirements are observed and

adhered to during activities across our sites.

•  Recognising and acting upon safeguarding concerns

Collaborative Working:

•  Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues in other
departments and sites to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

•  To meet with partners and networks as delegated by HoCWS.

Project working

•  To lead allocated sessions & be flexible to cover other sessions if needed.
•  To actively support participants with their wellbeing.
•  To linkwork a designated number of participants.
•  To undertake all other reasonable work as requested.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

•  Two years’ experience of supporting vulnerable people in any setting.
•  Previous experience or training in delivering therapeutic interventions in

whatever form.

•  Experience / ability to support people with mild mental health needs.
•  An ability to lead small groups and manage dynamics that may arise in a

supportive way.

•  An enjoyment of supporting people to reach their potential and an ability to

manage in a supportive and inspirational way.

•  The ability to work as part of a team to create and develop wellbeing sessions.
•  Responsive, problem-solving and “can do” attitude with an eye for detail.
•  Commitment to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Statement of Values, and

an understanding of how to implement these in practice.

•  Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally) with a wide range

of people, including vulnerable people, colleagues, and a variety of
professionals.

•  Effective time management skills, and an ability to perform administrative
duties effectively, including report writing, monitoring and evaluations.

•  Practical IT skills; familiar with office software and basic use of spreadsheets.

•  A good knowledge of health and safety issues and how to manage risks.
•  A commitment to working within organisational policies and procedures.
•  An ability to work flexibly with others to meet the needs of the participants.
•  Hold a current driving licence and a willingness to drive the Trust’s vehicles.
•  Knowledge / skills / interest in two or more of the following areas:

•  Gardening
•  Baking / cooking
•  Art / craft activities
•  Physical activity e.g. yoga / dance
•  Mindfulness meditations
•  Singing
•  Other therapeutic activities.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

•  Horticultural experience and passion for gardening, growing and local food.
•  An understanding of the sustainability and environmental issues and an ability

to implement these across the organisation.

•  A social care qualification.
•  A mental health qualification.
