Community Support Worker/ Qualified Social Worker (Part Time)
We are seeking either an experienced Community Support Worker or a Qualified Social Worker to join our Social Work and Community Support team on a 20-hour per week basis.
This post can be based at our resources in Friern Barnet, Golders Green or Ilford. You will need access to a vehicle for work.
The role covers North East London , Central London, and Essex
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of older people, adults, carers and families within the Jewish community. Depending on your qualifications, professional registration and experience, you will be appointed as either a Community Support Worker or a Qualified Social Worker.
Working as part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team, you'll provide advice, assessment, advocacy and practical support that enables people to remain independent, connected and living well within their communities.
About the Service
Jewish Care's Social Work and Community Support Service provides personalised support to adults, carers and families across London, Hertfordshire, Essex and the South East.

Our service helps people navigate the challenges associated with ageing, disability, dementia, caring responsibilities, social isolation and changing life circumstances. Through assessment, advice, advocacy and community-based support, we empower people to maintain their independence and wellbeing whilst working closely with statutory, voluntary and community partners.
About the Role
Whether appointed as a Community Support Worker or Qualified Social Worker, you will:
- Manage a varied caseload of adults and carers.
- Undertake holistic assessments to identify individual strengths, needs and risks.
- Provide information, advice, advocacy and practical support.
- Develop person-centred support plans that promote independence and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
- Support carers and families through changing circumstances.
- Contribute to community initiatives, support groups and service development projects.
- Maintain accurate case records using our CRM system.
- Promote safeguarding, dignity, choice and inclusion in everything you do.
- Qualified Social Workers will also undertake more complex assessments, apply professional social work judgement and lead on safeguarding, risk management and care planning where appropriate.
About You
We're looking for someone who is compassionate, motivated and committed to delivering outstanding person-centred support.
You'll have:
- Experience working with adults, older people and carers.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred practice.
- Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary team.
- Strong IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records.
- A commitment to Jewish Care's values of Excellence, Innovation, Compassion, Inclusiveness and Integrity.
For Qualified Social Worker applicants, you'll also need:
- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Experience undertaking assessments, care planning and professional social work interventions.
- Knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding legislation.
