Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone.

We are there when it matters.

Thorpe Hall Hospice is based in Peterborough. We’re here for people aged 18 and over who are living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. We offer a range of support to patients and their families including inpatient care in our 20 bed hospice, a day service for those with long-term conditions and support in the community through our Hospice at Home and bereavement services.

Hospice at Home teams provide specialist hands-on care and support in people’s homes or usual place of residence when they are approaching the end of their life. Our care is available day and night, giving patients and families specialist support at a very difficult time. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our expanding Hospice at Home Service to provide palliative and end of life care in the Greater Peterborough community.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will play an active role within our team, providing excellent personalised care, enabling patients to be cared for in their own homes surrounded by their families and loved ones. It's all about giving them the best possible quality of life. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals' medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.

The service runs 7 days per week. Currently there is no expectation to work night shifts however this could be a possibility in the future.

Shift times are:

08:00 - 14:00 or 14:00 - 22:00

We may consider the option of some long days.

About you:

Minimum Essential Criteria:

Full UK driving licence (International does not meet the requirements)
Ability to assess and adapt care to meet individuals’ needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
NVQ Level 3 qualification is strongly preferred; however, applicants with substantial relevant experience, supported by evidence, are welcome to apply
Awareness of person-centred and inclusive care principles

Desirable Criteria:

Experience delivering lone working care
Confidence in using digital care documentation tools
Sue Ryder provides a thorough induction with supernumerary time to settle into the role and full training/competency assessment will be provided.
There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care.
If you would like to arrange an informal visit to our hospice, please let us know.
