Come and Make a Difference in Wallsend

At Wallsend Children’s Community, we believe that communities hold the answers. Families know what needs to change, they just need the right support, investment and encouragement to make it happen.

We work alongside children, young people and families across Wallsend, bringing together health, education, play, youth services, welfare and careers support to help every child thrive from cradle to career.

We’re now looking for a Community Liaison Coordinator (CLC) to join our friendly and committed team.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a people-focused, community-centred role. Over a 25 hour week, you’ll be supporting our Community Development Officer and working closely with local residents through our Community Champion Networks.

In simple terms, you’ll be helping local people turn their ideas into action.

You will:

  • Welcome and encourage local people to get involved
  • Support community-led activities that make a real difference
  • Help children, young people and families share their experiences and shape services so that their voice is heard
  • Build positive relationships with local groups, schools and organisations
  • Gather stories, insights and learning that help us improve and influence change
  • Champion the amazing work happening in Wallsend

Your work will contribute to tackling poverty, improving health, supporting families in the earliest years, and building brighter futures for families, children and young people.

Who We’re Hoping to Meet

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • A great listener who values people’s lived experiences
  • Comfortable bringing different groups together
  • Positive, organised and able to juggle a few things at once
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and social media
  • Passionate about fairness and improving opportunities for children and families

You don’t need formal qualifications for this role, what matters most is your commitment, people skills and belief in community-led change.

Experience working with families, community groups or multiple partners would be helpful, as would an understanding of how poverty impacts children, families and neighbourhoods.

Safeguarding Matters

This role involves regular contact with children and families and is classified as Safeguarding Level 2. An enhanced DBS check will be required before starting. We are fully committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expect all team members to share that commitment.

Why Join Us?

You will be joining a supportive, values driven team that genuinely believes in the power of community. This is a chance to:

  • Help shape meaningful local change
  • Amplify the voices of families
  • Be part of something hopeful and ambitious
  • Make a lasting difference in children’s lives

If you’re excited by the idea of working alongside communities to create positive change, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and help us build a Wallsend where every child matters.

To apply, please email your CV along with a cover letter explaining how you will bring your experience to life in this role to Gill Gray, Senior Partnership and Innovation Officer on gill@wallsendcc.org . Or if you'd like to have a chat prior to applying please email Gill and organise a time.
