Tuesday 21st April Monday 27 AprilthPurpose of the roleThe Community Fundraiser is responsible for nurturing relationships with existingand prospective supporters, including from: community fundraisers, communitygroups and supporter-led fundraising events. The postholder will oversee a portfolio of community fundraising events andactivities to maximise income for the organisation, taking responsibility forsustaining and developing existing relationships as well as forging new ones withprospective fundraisers. The post holder will ensure that fundraisers know that the income they raise willmake a real difference to our work. Are motivated by seeing the direct value of your work.The ROLE2Principal Tasks:CommunicationsContact and visit businesses and groups across the catchment area to promoteways to support the hospice;Give talks to local groups and in schools about the work of the hospice; Liaise with supporters who are fundraising to ensure they have everything theyneed and attend events to support, where appropriate, including chequepresentations;Manage own workload using the shared platform for fundraising taskmanagement to ensure clarity of project status between individuals and theoverall department.Handle telephone. email and face to face enquiries regarding donations orother fundraising matters, deal with these in a timely manner or hand them tothe relevant member of the fundraising team in full.Work alongside all members of the fundraising and wider hospice teams tomeet shared goals and foster efficiency and effectiveness.Liaise with Marketing and Communications to manage publicity for fundraisingevents and activities that fall within the community income stream; FundraisingMake direct asks for support to further the cause. Grow income from Community Fundraising through businesses and groups;stewarding existing supporters and promoting new fundraising initiatives;Be involved in all aspects of planning and implementation of communitycampaigns. Manage and grow income from collection pots through promotion of theseacross the catchment area, changing collection pots on a regular basis;Help supporters to maximise their fundraising.Utilise the fundraising database to ensure donors records are up to date andcommunications are logged accurately.JobDESCRIPTION2Attend events, stalls, meetings and talks to represent the hospice. Handle all components of the pre and post event checklists, including but notlimited to completing risk assessments, packing all stock, equipment andliterature and ongoing stewardship of the fundraising group or individual.Create community campaigns on JustGiving and other on-line giving sites forcommunity events, respond to creation of ad hoc fundraising pages and ensurethat donors and participants are thanked in a timely and appropriate manner;Manage the stock for re-sale in our reception shop;Develop and nurture relationships with all hospice fundraising volunteersincluding providing support and motivation to help ensure their role issuccessful. Support with the administration of the community events log and communicatethis with relevant departments on a regular basis. Utilise relationships with community groups, supermarkets and other contactsto secure Gifts in Kind for use within community campaigns and events;Fundraising & Communications StrategySupport the Fundraising Manager to deliver the Community components of the3-year Fundraising Strategy;Develop long-term relationships with supporters through outstanding donorcare;Support in establishing good processes and measures to ensure that ouractivities deliver against objectives and conform to the highest standards ofregulations and procedures;Continually scan the external environment to feed into ideas for futurefundraising campaigns and initiatives.FinancialEnsure all supporters are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner andtheir donations are administered in line with fundraising procedures;Encourage and discuss Gift Aid and Match Funding were applicable to increasecharitable income via these initiatives. 2OtherWork within the hospice policies and procedures contributing to the delivery ofan effective fundraising and communications service that promotes our mission,vision and purpose;Be aware of and comply with all relevant hospice policies and proceduresincluding those relating to health and safety, fire safety, data protection, IT andstanding financial instructions;Maintain personal and professional development in order to meet the changingdemands of the role;Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of charity legislation and governmentinitiatives relating to the non-profit making sector and work to the FundraisingRegulator ‘Codes of Practice’ and General Data Protection Regulation.Training & DevelopmentFull training is provided.
