The Role
You will be delivering our mission to give everyone the chance to feel unstoppable. As a Community & Events Fundraiser you’ll be right at the heart of our team’s efforts to make sure no one affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus feels alone.
Each year, we aim to raise over £1.2 million through multiple fundraising streams to support our essential services. We have exciting plans to grow our income and service reach over the next four years. Your mission will be bringing communities, local businesses and supporters together to get behind the cause. You will also be recruiting participants for some of Scotland’s most well-known large-scale events run by SBH Scotland – The Strathclyde Zipslide (formerly Zipslide the Clyde), the Falkirk Wheel Abseil and the Port of Leith Abseil.
This is an exciting and creative role where you will work closely with the Community Events Manager to implement your joint fundraising strategies. As you grow your fundraising success, you’ll have the chance to shape your own career path.
A driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role.

Reporting to: Challenge Events & Community Fundraising Manager
Place of Work: Hybrid office/home-working model with base being the Dan Young Building, Dullatur G68 0LS. Occasional travel within Scotland to accommodate needs of fundraising.
Working Hours: The role is 28 hours across four or five days (can be discussed).
Normal work hours are 9.00am to 4.30pm. The role will necessitate working some hours out with normal office hours, including evenings and some weekends in line with demands of fundraising activities.
Salary: £28,525 (Pro Rata 35 HR FTE) (Role will be 28 hours per week)

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
To be as unstoppable as the people we support.
To use your talent, creativity and determination to recruit participants to take part in SBH Scotland hosted challenge events across Scotland.
Proactively recruit individuals and teams for third party challenge events i.e. Kiltwalk.
Proactively develop and nurture relationships with potential funders and fundraisers e.g. Businesses, community groups and individuals.
• Identify and follow up opportunities to secure non-cash or in-kind support,
• To deliver excellent supporter stewardship.
• To inspire and coordinate volunteers to support local fundraising efforts.
To be a team player who unifies people around our cause.
Working with the Community Events Manager and communications team to promote fundraising initiatives.
Identify potential fundraising stories that can inspire our community to donate or get involved with fundraising activities.
Work closely with Direct Services colleagues to involve them in building relationships with supporters.

To gather data and feedback to learn from failures and apply learning to improve processes and applications.
Ensure that all donor and prospect records are maintained and updated accurately and promptly on Raiser’s Edge and that record keeping is compliant with the charity’s Data Protection Policy.
