Job Description
Purpose of the Role
To support the work of Headway Rotherham by helping to deliver engaging, friendly, and inclusive activities for brain injury survivors and their families. The role includes helping with events, general administration, and communication with members and volunteers.
Main Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and running creative, wellbeing, and social activities for brain injury survivors and their families.
• Help encourage members and carers to take part in group and social sessions.
• Support with peer support and educational groups, including online sessions and wellbeing phone calls.
• Provide general administrative support such as data entry, maintaining records, and preparing basic reports.
• Assist in preparing risk assessments and gathering feedback to measure outcomes.
• Help organise or attend community events to raise awareness of Headway Rotherham.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with all participants, showing a commitment to equality, inclusion, and fairness.
• Support safe and positive behaviour at all times and report any safeguarding concerns according to policy.
• Attend relevant training to develop skills and understanding of brain injury and community engagement.
• Follow Headway Rotherham’s policies, procedures, and values.
• Be flexible and willing to help with other reasonable duties as required to support the charity’s activities.
Skills and Qualities
• Friendly, approachable, and compassionate, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable and well-organised, with good time management.
• Basic IT skills (email, Word, spreadsheets, social media).
• Willing to learn and take direction.
• Able to work well as part of a small team.
• Problem-solving attitude and willingness to try new things.
• Respectful of confidentiality and sensitive to the needs of others.
• A clean driving licence and use of a car.
Qualifications
• GCSEs or equivalent (including English and Maths).
• Any relevant vocational qualifications (e.g., Level 2 in Health and Social Care) are an advantage.
• First Aid and safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
Training and Support
Full induction and on-the-job training will be provided. There will be opportunities to develop new skills in community engagement, wellbeing support, and working with vulnerable adults.
