Community Development Worker Gay Bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM)

We are on the frontline of sexual health and wellbeing and are looking for a Community Development Worker to join our dedicated South Yorkshire team. This is your chance to deliver real-world outreach, events, and testing that tear down barriers, challenge stigma, and provide life-changing sexual health interventions directly to gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. Based in Rotherham, you will be the boots on the ground for our community outreach, ensuring both physical and virtual spaces are equipped with inclusive, accurate, and empowering information to help reduce HIV and STI transmission.

THE ROLE (21 Hours Per Week)

• Hitting the ground– conducting outreach across Rotherham’s physical and virtual spaces, scanning venues, events, and online apps where gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) meet.
• Going where the action is– carrying out vital outreach in public sex environments (PSEs) and sex-on-premises venues (including male-only spaces like saunas and public toilets) to assess needs and promote safety.
• Delivering health interventions– providing community-based HIV and syphilis point-of-care testing (POCT) along with chlamydia screening directly to target groups.
• Distributing life-saving resources– ensuring condoms, lube, and accurate sexual health information are easily accessible face-to-face, online, and over the phone.
• Building community and capacity– establishing new groups, running safer sex and drug use (Chemsex) workshops, and delivering targeted training to external professionals.
• Empowering the team– recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers and sessional outreach workers to scale the project's impact.
• This role demands flexibility. Regular evening and weekend work is required to meet the community when and where they gather.
