About The Role

Applications are invited from experienced palliative care nurses to join our Community CNS team at Strathcarron Hospice. The team visit people in their own homes across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

We are looking for a palliative care nurse who has experience working in the community and who will take responsibility for assessing and reviewing community patients.

Our working week is generally Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

About You

You will have a good working knowledge of clinical assessment, symptom management and a passion for enabling patients and their families to live well and die well. You will be skilled in working collaboratively with a wide range of professionals in order to maximise quality of life and ensuring excellence in end of life care.

A competency in basic IT skills is essential. Strathcarron Hospice uses electronic patient care records – training in use of this system is provided.

You must have the ability to travel across the catchment area.

You will be registered with NMC (Part 1). You will also be well organised, be an excellent communicator, be able to work well on your own and as part of a team. We will provide the successful candidate with orientation to the role, excellent support, access to clinical supervision and appropriate training.

The post is subject to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check by Disclosure Scotland.

All new employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, during which performance and suitability for the role will be assessed.
