About the role

As a Community Bus Driver, you will play a vital role in enabling clients attending our Community Hub to access activities in the local community safely and comfortably

You will be responsible for transporting passengers to and from activities, ensuring every journey is safe, well-planned and delivered with care and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Providing a helpful, courteous and respectful service, always prioritising passenger safety, securing all wheelchairs and equipment before travel
  • Providing an efficient transport service within the local area taking clients and their support staff to and from various leisure trips
  • Planning journeys effectively, taking into account traffic, timings and individual passenger needs
  • Moving and assisting residents carefully and safely from vehicles into specialist equipment, wheelchairs etc.
  • Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks (oil, water, tyres etc.), maintaining the vehicle in a clean, safe and presentable condition
  • Driving in accordance with road safety laws and organisational policies and always following all Health and Safety Policies & safe working practices

What we're looking for

  • Substantial driving experience including larger vehicles, holding a valid UK driving licence Classes B, BE and D1
  • Holds a valid MiDAS certificate (or willingness to undergo training)
  • A courteous, patient and respectful approach to working with vulnerable individuals
  • Good understanding of people with complex needs and passenger safety requirements
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations
  • Experience of working within a care or education environment is desirable although not essential
