The role

We’re hiring a brand-new role in our Communications Team that will play a pivotal role in shaping WRAP’s expansion across Europe.

As our EU Communications Specialist, you’ll have a unique opportunity to define how WRAP builds its profile across the European Union. You’ll help shape how we engage existing corporate, government and funding partners, while growing our reach and influence with new audiences across the region - particularly in the areas of food and textiles sustainability.

Based in the Netherlands, you’ll bring extensive experience of working across multiple European countries. You’ll know, for example, what resonates with French policymakers, how to engage German or Italian businesses, or how approaches may need to differ between audiences in Spain and Ireland.

You’ll be an experienced communications professional who can confidently move between strategy and execution. You'll be skilled at building strong relationships with journalists, event organisers, partners and communications professionals across Europe to maximise WRAP's impact.

You’ll have a sharp eye for opportunities to position our experts as trusted voices on the issues that are important to WRAP. From securing speaking opportunities and shaping media stories, to writing compelling copy across multiple channels, you'll know how to tell the right story to the right audience. You'll constantly be looking for new and creative ways to strengthen engagement and build WRAP's reputation across Europe.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building a deep understanding of priority stakeholders across the region, identifying what motivates them and how to reach them.
  • Developing and delivering an effective regional communications plan that strengthens WRAP’s profile in the EU and aligns with WRAP’s corporate strategy, global messaging and brand positioning.
  • Identifying and securing relevant, high-profile regional media coverage, PR opportunities and speaking engagements (e.g. at conferences and events).
  • Creating high-quality, audience-focused content and materials – including case studies, digital content, thought leadership pieces and business development collateral – to support stakeholder engagement, fundraising efforts and showcase WRAP’s work in the region.
  • Proactively identifying and building relationships with key regional organisations, influencers and networks to co-create content and expand WRAP’s reach.
  • Working collaboratively, proactively and positively with WRAP’s cross-functional and cross-continental teams.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a positive and driven self-starter with strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and networking skills, who learns fast and is confident establishing a new regional role from the ground up.
  • Have proven experience in global communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Be able to develop and implement effective communication plans to influence public opinion, policymakers, and engage stakeholders – particularly businesses, NGOs, government, foundations, corporate partners and grassroots organisations.
  • Have experience creating engaging and innovative multi-channel content, including use of multimedia formats.
  • Be highly attuned to regional trends, policy developments and media agendas, with the ability to respond quickly with relevant and impactful communications.
  • Be willing and able to travel within the EU and to the UK as required.

Please note that being a native speaker in one or more EU languages as well as being proficient in English, both verbal and written, is an essential requirement for the role.

Ready to lead the way to circular living?

If you think you have what it takes but your experience looks different to what is advertised, please still apply. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of your age, race, gender, neurodiversity, ability, beliefs, sexuality, or personal preferences.

We want to help you be your best, so please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustments during the recruitment process.
