We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.

Summary job description

We are seeking a motivated Communications Intern to support storytelling, content creation, and documentation of our work with coastal communities. This part-time role, based at Blue Ventures Indonesia hub in Bali, offers hands-on experience within an international conservation organisation. The intern will collaborate closely with the Senior Communications Manager Asia-Pacific to develop engaging content across multiple platforms, with opportunities for occasional travel to work with overseas colleagues, partners, field teams, and communities.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organised, and knowledgeable about small-scale fisheries, marine conservation, and rural development. They will have strong written communication skills and ideally a background in community-based conservation initiatives. We are looking for someone who embraces innovation, builds effective partnerships, and aligns with Blue Ventures’ mission and values, particularly its commitment to human rights-based approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management.
