THE DIRECTORATE
The Communications and Engagement Directorate is primarily responsible for the Library’s access services and its relationships with its users and customers. In this context, access means a wide range of activities including on site services and activities, online provision, and work across generations and communities in all parts of Wales, as well as internationally.
The work of the Directorate is a core part of realising the Library’s vision to be an organisation that works with the people of Wales to preserve, grow and share the nation’s memory and culture, and that uses our collections and expertise to connect with communities, increase knowledge, and develop skills and learning.

KEY DUTIES
• Plan and implement the Library’s social media content programme and contribute to promoting the Library’s collections and work on these channels by creating and sharing engaging content.
• Plan and implement specific social media campaigns in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Team.
• Implement a content plan to promote the Library’s Exhibitions across the Library’s social media accounts in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Team.
• Lead on developing and publishing videos to promote the Library, to be shared on the Library’s social media accounts, including YouTube.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of work on the Library’s social media accounts and present reports.
• Advise on the Library’s digital advertising programme.
• Coordinate and contribute to processes that enable staff across the Library to highlight stories that contribute to the organisation’s promotional work.
• Write accurate and engaging copy for promotional materials, liaising with internal departments and partners as appropriate.
• Coordinate, write, and send the Library’s email newsletters to target audiences.
• Responsibility for the administrative elements of implementing the Library’s Social Media Policy, e.g. creating accounts, keeping records of their users, informing relevant staff of changes.
• Share advice and best practice with other staff who use social media.
• Ensure consistency in the branding of the National Library of Wales.
• Identify learning and development needs and undertake training as required.
• Maintain a general understanding of Web accessibility legislation, GDPR, and copyright.
• Assist with staffing events during evenings and weekends when required, including Library events, exhibition openings, and external or partner promotional events, and promote the Library professionally at these events.
