With key reporting for our first year of our 2030 strategy on the horizon, you’re joining the team at a crucial time for communications where we need to effectively share our impact, bringing key stakeholders with us on the journey of what’s been achieved and what we are looking to develop in the coming year. The Engagement team has a varied and ambitious business plan that you will help to shape and take ownership of projects to drive forward our plans.
As the Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing communications to effectively connect with our students, university staff, local businesses, and other stakeholders. You will work with the Marketing and Insights Coordinator to develop an omni-channel approach to communications, ensuring that key messages reach students and advocates of the students’ union.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer who understands how to create audience-specific communications. You are a storyteller who is constantly interrogating your work to understand the “so what” that makes the story relevant for your reader. You will be enthusiastic to develop approaches and plans in collaboration with students and SU staff and confident working independently to deliver those plans. You are comfortable with feedback, actively seeking opportunities to improve your work and ways to measure those improvements. You are organised and set clear deadlines for yourself and others.
This post is a permanent position working on a 1.0 contract, which is 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend working is required. For this role the successful candidate will be required to work across Penryn, Falmouth, and Truro campuses for contracted hours due to the collaborative and student-facing nature of the role. Working hours and patterns will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
The Communications Coordinator job description outlines full requirements of the role.
