With over 11,000 members and as the primary entertainments venue for students, we provide a range of services and support a thriving scene with over 140 affiliated societies.
Our Catering Operation forms an intrinsic part of the Student Experience and completes the range of services we provide including advice, representation, and entertainments in our four bars. Our offering straddles 2 café sites and a busy kitchen supplying food across our outlets. We also deliver a number of external catering events throughout the year and support the local community out with term time.
Under the overall management of the Catering Manager, you will be a key member of the Catering team. You will be responsible for delivering a high class, value for money offering to our members, University Staff members and the local community.

Hours of work
Variable days evening and weekend shifts, with weekend working essential. Start and finish times variable in line with business demands.

£12.21 per hr rising to £12.71 in April

Your role
Reporting to our Assistant Catering Manager (ACM) and Supervisor, you will work primarily in a front of house role alongside our Café team. You will be working with student staff, including those at school age as part of a young enthusiastic frontline team. This will involve weekend work and a flexible approach as exact shifts may vary according to the needs of the operation at particular times of year.
Description of Specific Duties
· Cooking and preparation of hot and cold food and beverages for sale direct to the customer.
· Be responsible for Open/close and set up/close up of Rectors or any of our other satellite operations as required.
· Serving customers to the highest standard contributing to Customer Experience.
• Accepting deliveries of goods, checking, signing and ensuring they get stored away properly in fridge, freezer or dry stores.
• Operating the till and taking payments. Maintaining food and drink displays, re-stocking as required and rotating stock.
• Adhering to all Health and Hygiene procedures within the Café operation.
• Cleaning front of house and back of house areas on a daily basis including dishwashing.
• Routine close down and cashing up as required.
• Adherence to Health and Safety procedures are maintained within the catering operation.
• Any other reasonable request in line with the scope of the role.
