Job Description

Title: Clinical Psychologist (Temporary post to cover maternity leave 9 months)

Description: This is an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and competencies in the field of neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and passionate Clinical Psychologist to join our service part time 2 days (15 hours )per week. It will be important that you thrive on working as part of a team, and ideally have experience of working with clients with a brain injury or other neurological conditions.

The interdisciplinary clinical team (IDT) at Shaftesbury Icanho work with adults who have had an acquired brain injury. This includes traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain infections, hypoxia and tumour. The IDT is made up of a highly skilled, warm and friendly team of Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work and Rehabilitation Assistants. The team deliver bespoke assessments and rehabilitation programmes with the aim of helping clients and their families to achieve their goals and live a meaningful life after acquired brain injury.

You will receive regular supervision and work alongside our Lead Clinical Psychologist to deliver a high-quality specialist Clinical Psychology service within a neurorehabilitation context. The work will include direct work with clients and family members: including neuropsychological assessment, psychological formulation and individual and group interventions.

The Lead Clinical Psychologist is currently undertaking her Neuropsychology Masters with the aim of completing the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) and registering on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychology (SRCN) in Spring 2026. Therefore, there is ample opportunity for you to learn the most up to date and specialist neuropsychology knowledge and apply it to this client group. This will allow you to build both your BPS Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology competencies.

You will also get the opportunity to learn from working alongside the rest of the highly skilled IDT, including the chance to do joint working.

Due to the nature of the work, this post will require you to travel to and work from our base in Stowmarket, Suffolk. This is within a 45 minutes’ drive from Cambridge or Colchester, and 20 minutes from Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds.
