Climate Resilience and Sustainability is inviting applications for the role of Associate Editor

Climate Resilience and Sustainability is an interdisciplinary journal publishing research on the approaches, methods, and tools that enhance the resilience of human societies, economies, or natural systems to climate change, in the context of aiming to achieve the broader UN Sustainable Development Goals. We publish papers on policy and practice, as well as research papers, from practitioners and researchers. Climate Resilience and Sustainability (published with the Royal Meteorological Society) focuses on current or proposed actions that enhance climate resilience or reduce climate change risks through adaptation across multiple sectors.

You can find the full Aims and Scope here.

The Role

Associate Editors work closely with the Editors-in-Chief in helping to steer and manage the journal, playing an active role in journal development. The key responsibility as an Associate Editor will be managing the lifecycle of a paper through the peer review process. This includes:

  • Identifying suitable referees, reviewing referees’ comments, acting as a reviewer when needed and providing feedback to authors, overseeing an effective, ethical and timely peer review process
  • Deciding acceptance of manuscripts
  • Ensuring the quality and soundness of articles published in the journal, by considering their compliance with ethical standards of scientific research, the relevance of the articles to the journal’s aim and scope, and the accurate use of research methods
  • Inviting appropriate contributions
  • Promoting the journal within relevant networks
  • Liaising with authors, reviewers, the Editors-in-Chief and the Publisher to achieve these goals.

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the development and management of an academic journal with a global profile. We welcome applications from researchers who are passionate about shaping the research agenda and building broad networks and communities in their field.

We are committed to fostering a broad range of perspectives within our field. We strongly encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, to ensure a representation of varied perspectives to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in our editorial process. We consider applications from researchers at all career stages, but we envisage this role will suit an ambitious mid-career researcher looking to consolidate their position as a leader in their field.

What we Require

A PhD in climate resilience or a closely related field is required.

Ideal candidates will have a strong record of publication in journals of good standing and be recognised scholars in the area of climate resilience and/or related fields. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in coastal systems, cities, social science, agriculture, Africa, and health. Candidates with an interdisciplinary expertise are encouraged.

Sufficient experience as a reviewer in refereed academic journals is required, and editorial experience either as an Associate Editor and/or special issue editor is desirable.

To apply, please submit your application via this form. If you have any queries about the role, please contact editorrecruitment@wiley.com.

The application deadline is 30 April 2026.

This vacancy may close earlier than the advertised deadline if a high volume of applications is received. Early applications are therefore encouraged.
