NEWHAM COMMUNITY RENEWAL PROGRAMME LTD JOB DESCRIPTION Department: Housing and Central Services Job title: Cleaning Operative Working Hours: 25 hours per week Rate of pay: £14.35 per hour, rising to £14.85 from May 2026 Reports to: Housing Manager and Centre Manager Location: Primarily our supported housing services at 308 Barking Road, E13 8BJ (15 hours per week) and St George’s Avenue, E7 8HR (10 hours per week), with occasional cleaning at our Head Office, 395 High Street North, E12 6PG. Clean, well-maintained homes are central to that mission. You will play a vital role in creating safe, welcoming and well-maintained homes for vulnerable adults. Your work directly supports residents to live with dignity and prepares properties to be ready for new tenants moving forward with their lives. Key Responsibilities • Clean communal kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, offices and shared spaces to a high standard • Deep-clean vacant rooms and flats ready for re-letting • Remove and dispose of waste and rubbish safely, including transporting to bin stores • Carry out descaling of bathrooms and kitchens as required • Clean internal communal windows, entrance doors and lifts (ground level and accessible floors) • Maintain external communal areas, including litter picking and basic jet washing when required • Identify and report damage, hazards, hygiene concerns or maintenance issues promptly • Support housing staff during void turnarounds to ensure timely re-occupation • Respond appropriately to reasonable requests from residents, in line with guidance from managers General Requirements • Carry out all duties in line with The Renewal Programme’s policies and procedures, including Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Confidentiality, GDPR, Complaints, and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults. • Attend team meetings and training sessions as required, and actively engage with learning relevant to the role. • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times. • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required to support the effective running of the service. 2 NEWHAM COMMUNITY RENEWAL PROGRAMME LTD Person Specification Essential • Experience of cleaning in a business, commercial or residential setting • Reliable, punctual and trustworthy • Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards • Able to work independently and manage own workload • Comfortable working in a supported housing environment with vulnerable adults • Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including lifting and waste removal • Willingness to work safely and follow health & safety procedures, including use of cleaning chemicals and PPE (training provided) • Respectful, calm and professional in approach, with an understanding of appropriate boundaries when working around vulnerable adults • Able to work across the identified sites and adjust tasks as required within agreed hours Desirable • Experience cleaning in residential, supported housing or similar settings • Previous experience or basic knowledge of COSHH or bio-hazard cleaning • Experience working around vulnerable adults in any capacity • Positive and adaptable approach to change within the service 3
