Are you passionate about church planting, leadership development and seeing healthy, growing churches reach new people?
The Diocese of York and St Michael-le-Belfrey (The Belfrey) are seeking an inspiring and entrepreneurial leader to take on this unique joint role, combining strategic diocesan leadership with ministry in one of the UK’s leading resource churches.
As Church Planting Lead, you will drive the implementation of the Diocese of York’s Church Planting Strategy, building the systems, partnerships and pathways needed to establish sustainable church plants and New Worshipping Communities across diverse contexts.
As Associate Minister (Church Planting) at The Belfrey, you will help nurture a culture of multiplication, develop emerging leaders, and support the church’s ongoing mission to plant and resource churches across the Diocese and beyond.
Working across both organisations, you will connect parishes, deaneries, resource churches and diocesan teams, championing collaboration, innovation and shared learning as we seek to grow churches of missionary disciples and reach those not currently engaged with church.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a clear calling and passion for church planting and mission.
- Can develop and implement strategy while inspiring others.
- Has experience of leadership development and forming disciples.
- Thrives on collaboration, relationship-building and innovation.
- Is committed to seeing churches flourish in a wide range of contexts.
Together, the Diocese of York and The Belfrey are committed to Living Christ’s Story by becoming more like Christ, reaching those we currently don’t, growing churches of missionary disciples, and transforming our capacity for mission.
Applicants must be in priest’s orders at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be an experienced priest with a deep understanding of the Church of England, a proven commitment to church planting and growth, and a track record of collaborative leadership.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. It is a requirement for an appointment to an ecclesiastical office in the Diocese of York that you must have undertaken the prescribed safeguarding training, and any offer made will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and welcome applications from disabled candidates and those from UKME heritage as these groups are under-represented in our staff.
