Children’s & Youth Worker

Christ Church Fareham is seeking a Children’s & Youth worker to lead all our Under 18s Church activities, to execute the Children and Youth vision of the Church (under the oversight of the Church Elders), to train and equip volunteers, to provide excellent discipleship sessions on Sunday mornings and to run family outreach events during the year.

Details:

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week.

Location: Christ Church Fareham, Cams Hill School, Shearwater Ave, Portchester, Fareham PO16 8AH and Christ Church Fareham Office, 1c The High Street, PO16 7AG. 

Salary: Negotiable.  Christ Church Fareham will also pay for and give time for the employee to study a Graduate Diploma in Theology with Union Bible College.

Start date: 1 September 2026.

‍Job Description:

Key Worker for all Under-18s Activities in the Church

  • Work with the eldership and the Under 18s Leadership Team to implement the Church's vision for Under 18s.

  • Manage Creche, Kids and Youth Leaders.

  • Write or provide appropriate spiritual and fun content for each group every Sunday.

  • Recruit volunteers to help in each age group and run DBS Checks.

  • Train volunteers for their work.

  • Ensure everything we do as a Church adheres to the Trustee’s Safeguarding requirements.

Pastoring Children in the Home

  • Spend time praying with Under 18s, with their parents at home.

  • Pastoring Under 18s as appropriate, including assessing their suitability for baptism, under the oversight of the elders.

  • Provide helpful content for parents to grow in teaching their children.

Own and Deliver Missional Calendar of Events

  • Prepare missional events to reach the families of Fareham with the Gospel (currently these events are Easter, the Light Party and a Christmas Event, but we expect to expand what we’re offering to include a holiday club and other events).

  • Market these events effectively.

  • Help plan & participate in monthly youth socials and build a missional element to these meetings.

  • Lead Youth camp activities (e.g. taking a group to Newday).

The Church will provide sufficient time and resources for the right candidate to study a Graduate Diploma in Theology with Commission and Union Bible College.

‍About You

‍ They are looking for someone who:

  • ‍Is a committed Christian faith (essential).

  • Experience teaching the Bible to under-18s (essential).

  • Experience running fun activities for Under 18s (essential).

  • Team player & experience working with volunteers (essential).

  • Experience of organising events (essential).

  • Understanding of the implementation of safeguarding policies (essential).

  • Experience meeting with parents, praying and supporting them in discipling their children (desirable).

  • Experience organising DBS checks (desirable).

The right applicant will need to relocate to Fareham and become a member of Christ Church Fareham.  We are a growing church, gathering around 100 people each Sunday. There are around 25 under-18s, averaging 15 in Children’s Work and 10 in Youth.
