Background

•  To  help  relieve the  suffering and distress of persons  who  have  been  raped or sexually

abused; and

•  To advance the education of the public in the subject of rape and sexual

abuse and their effects.

The registered activities are:
•  To promote the recovery of any adult or young person of any gender who has

experienced rape or sexual abuse at any point in their life; and

•  To  offer  one  to  one  counselling,  phone  support,  with  or  without  police  involvement,

young people's service, trust & support through court and criminal proceedings.

Purpose of the Job

The role is to provide a high quality, specialist service to victims of sexual violence including
provision of one-to-one therapy for clients up to the age of 18. The role includes provision of
therapeutic  assessments  to  clients  across  Derbyshire  who  have  been  referred  to  the
Therapy  Service  either  through  self-referral,  or  other  external  pathways  including  the
regional paediatric SARC.

To  work  within  a  multi-agency  setting  to  provide  an  empathetic  and  pro-active  support
service  to  victims  of  historical  sexual  violence  aged  0-17  and  their  families,  within  and
outside of the criminal justice system, including pre-trial therapy.

This role is part of the Therapy Service which comprises of a team of Adult and Children’s
Therapists offering therapy, support groups, parent support sessions and other therapeutic
interventions to victims of sexual violence and secondary survivors.

Accountability

The  Children’s  Therapist  will  be  line  managed  by  The  Therapy  Delivery  Manager  and  is
accountable  to  the  CEO.  The  post  is  part  of  a  wider  team  at  SV2  delivering  a  range  of
support services to victims of sexual violence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

General
This role is working with clients in a short-term model of 10 sessions

•  To  deliver  appropriate  individual  face  to  face  or  phone/online  brief  solution  focused

therapy to victims (aged 0-17) of sexual violence both recent and historic

•  To provide specialist counselling assessments
•  To provide one to one therapy in line with funding requirements and business needs,

working from various venues across Derbyshire including schools

•  To work in line with pre-trial guidelines
•  To  work  with  the  whole  SV2  organisation  to  ensure  smooth  transition  of  client

referrals to appropriate services including ‘in-crisis’ services

•  Ensure contract Key Performance Indicators are achieved and maintained
•  Maintain current and accurate records of clients and client interactions
•  Provide  reports  and  information  on  clinical  practice  as  required,  in  line  with  BACP

guidelines, SV2 policies and Data Protection Act using agreed frameworks

•  To contribute towards the Clinical Governance process within the service
•  Undertake  Continuous  Personal  Development  (CPD),  as  identified  in  annual

appraisal and line management processes

•  To support colleagues and sub-contracted therapists to deliver group work to clients

as and when required

•  To  offer  psychoeducational  support  session  and  coping  strategies

to

the

parent/carers of children who are receiving therapy at SV2

•  Take an active role in supporting students including, induction, and ongoing support
the

the  overall

organisation’s policies and procedures

•  Monitor  and  record  progress  and  outcomes  for  clients  utilising  SV2’s  case

management system, client support plan and other systems, as required

•  Monitor, maintain, plan and prioritise own work and client caseload to meet funding

requirements and business needs

•  Liaise with other relevant external agencies in relation to the support of their clients
•  Respond to safeguarding issues in accordance with SV2’s safeguarding policies
•  Provide information and reports for managers, as required

Professional
•  To  support  and  liaise  closely  with  practitioners  and  professionals  in  SV2  and  other

external organisations

•  Develop and maintain knowledge and skills relevant to this area of work which meets the

needs of the Organisation, client group and sexual offences legislation
•  Maintain confidentiality in line with SV2’s information governance policies
•  Adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics adopted by SV2
•  Work with interpreters where required

Other duties

•  Work within SV2’s Health & Safety Policy and take responsibility for personal Health &

•  Attend  regular  line  management,  in-house  clinical  supervision,  peer  supervision,

appraisal meetings and team meetings, as required

•  To  carry  out  any  other  responsibilities  that  reasonably  fall  within  the  scope  of  the  post

and to assist with any reasonable duty at the request of SV2’s Management Team
