  • The role is part-time at 21 hours per month on a fixed-term contract for 3 years.
  • Salary: £13.50 per hour
  • Ensure CYPF work remains a central part of St Mary’s mission and ministry.
  • Arrange and supervise monthly activities for young youth (ages 8-14) in line with St Mary’s Safeguarding, Health & Safety and other appropriate Policies.
  • Include monthly, Spirit-led and Bible based activities and other events as these evolve.
  • Be part of the school’s Collective Worship (CW) team which is invited to lead either KS1 or KS2 CW most Tuesday mornings in term time: this post would focus on KS2 CWs.
  • Coordinating monthly Family Worship services, and seeking appropriate team members to lead it: this may include some appropriately supervised young youth to grow their confidence and faith.
  • Devise, propose and run new regular and one-off initiatives for young youth, including occasional holiday club activities.
  • Communicate and engage with young youth families, including publicity, to create a relaxed enjoyable time together at events.
  • Work as part of St Mary’s overall CYPF team, maintaining links with the work at younger ages.
  • Attend three meetings per year with the incumbent and the other Children & Families Workers to pray, plan and discuss any issues/changes proposed.
  • Be instrumental in growing a mutually supportive network of CYPF workers across the Western Wards churches over time.
  • Work with other Western Wards CYPF teams to explore strategic opportunities outside purely parochial projects, eg openings at Brookfield.
  • Develop the ministry with the support team and Incumbent.

Growing our work with Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) is a top priority for St Mary’s. This role is part of the Children and Families Ministry Team and focused on leading, enabling and contributing to the Christian journey of younger youth (ages 8-14) and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about seeing young people and young families flourish, empowering them to grow, building the community and to be people of hope.

Main Areas of Responsibility

In addition to fulfilling the role of a Families and Children Team Member:

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian of a denomination which is a member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland in accordance with schedule 9 to the equality act 2010. The post is subject to an advanced DBS disclosure.
