CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILIES WORKER

Oakwood Church is seeking to appoint a part time Children, Youth & Families Worker
to work as part of the Church Team to help the work with children, young people and
families to grow.

We’re looking for someone passionate about sharing God’s love with children, young people and families.
The ideal applicant will bring warmth, creativity and a welcoming spirit  – helping others feel valued and
included. Experience of working and volunteering with these age groups is essential, along with a heart for
outreach and a desire to nurture faith in everyday life.

This is a new post, building on the previous work of a youth worker employed through another Christian
organisation, and the person appointed will be required to:

•  Support and develop existing provision for children, young people and families in the church.
•  Support and develop existing Christian faith provision for children at Roundhay St John’s Primary

School.

•  Develop outreach work in other local schools and/or the local community.

The  appointment  will  be  subject  to  an  enhanced  DBS  Disclosure  with  barred  list  check  and  an
occupational requirement exists for the post-holder to be a practising Christian.

NEXT STEPS & MAIN TERMS

10 hours per week, with core hours of 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Fridays
at Roundhay St John’s Primary School, 9:00 am to 12 noon on at least
two Sunday mornings per month and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on at least
one  Sunday  afternoon/evening  per  month  at  Oakwood  Church.  The
remaining hours can be worked flexibly in agreement with your Line
Manager. This may occasionally involve some additional evening and
weekend work. You will not be expected to work on more than three
days in a calendar week.
Permanent
£14.50  per  hour,  with  the  option  to  enrol  in  the  Church’s  workplace
pension scheme.
Based at Oakwood Church, Springwood Road, Leeds, LS8 2QA but also
working at Roundhay St John’s Primary School, North Lane, Leeds, LS8
2QJ (and your home address for preparation work if desired).
