Person Specification Chief Executive Officer Experience • Considerable experience of working within the voluntary sector at a senior level in a leadership capacity. • Possess strong networks across the voluntary / statutory sectors in Nottingham / Nottinghamshire. • Experience of successful income generation through grant awards and other income channels. • Demonstrable experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders both internally and externally. • Experience of managing, coaching or mentoring others, whilst able to delegate appropriately. • Prior involvement in developing and/or implementing organisational strategy. Knowledge • In-depth knowledge of the voluntary sector, preferably within Nottingham / Nottinghamshire. • Knowledge of voluntary sector drivers in respect of high-level policy decisions, structures and influencers within local government, health authorities, universities, national bodies and local community. • A deep understanding of the role of a Local Infrastructure Organisation and how they operate to support volunteering within a designated area. • Generalist level of knowledge and high-level understanding of the role of key back- office functions within a small, non-profit organisation and how these impact to support delivery teams (i.e., finance, marketing, fundraising, HR and H&S, IT etc.). • Able to effectively utilise social media and other digital outreach methods. Attributes / Skills / Behaviours • Sound financial skills: evidence of good budget management and good level of financial literacy (able to read and interpret accounts). • Computer literate, including the ability to work effectively remotely and with other remote workers where necessary. • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to champion change and engage stakeholders within a leadership role. • Willing to be hands-on when necessary. Page 1 of 2 • Focused and self-motivated: able to work to agreed KPIs and work effectively with colleagues to deliver mid and longer-term outcomes. • Creative and entrepreneurial thinker: able to identify problems at both strategic and operational level and create appropriate and effective solutions to achieve required outcomes. • High-level organisational and delivery skills. • Able to occasionally work outside of office hours as required to represent NCVS at external events and to travel as necessary within the Nottingham City area (although a driving licence is not essential for this as travelling actively and using public transport options is encouraged). The Chief Executive Officer is expected to attend in-person meetings in and around Nottingham 1 to 3 days a week, on average.
