Emmaus Colchester is seeking a CEO to provide clear and confident leadership across all areas of Emmaus Colchester: supported housing, Companion support, retail, reuse, logistics, partnerships and charity governance.

You will be responsible for ensuring the organisation is safe, well-run, financially sustainable and true to the Emmaus ethos of solidarity, dignity and shared responsibility.

You will join an organisation with a strong local presence and a practical, empowering model: combining a stable home with meaningful work and participation in social enterprise. Your leadership will help Emmaus Colchester respond confidently to a changing supported housing environment, increasing regulatory expectations and the need for long-term financial resilience.

  • Strong governance, compliance, safeguarding, risk management and reporting to Trustees.
  • Safe, high-quality supported housing and a positive residential community for Companions.
  • Thriving reuse, retail, warehouse and logistics operations that support the charity’s mission.
  • Robust financial planning, internal controls, income generation and long-term sustainability.
  • A culture of dignity, inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement across staff,
    volunteers and Companions.
  • Productive relationships with local authorities, funders, regulators, partners and the wider
    Emmaus Federation.

Emmaus Colchester is a charity that empowers people to overcome homelessness. We provide the foundation of a safe home and a life-changing package of tailored support. Through our residential community and thriving social enterprises across the city, we offer stability, purpose, and a route to rebuilding lives.

Emmaus is a unique, secular organisation supporting people affected by homelessness and social exclusion. There are currently 29 Emmaus communities across the UK, stretching from Glasgow to Dover and Norfolk to South Wales. Collectively, the Emmaus Federation supports more than 1,000 people with experience of homelessness.
