Charity Training Officer

About HCF

Hertfordshire Community Foundation is part of the national network of UK Community
Foundations who distribute funds to local projects.

As one of the largest philanthropy organisations in Hertfordshire we use donations from
individuals and businesses to support voluntary and community organisations across the
county.

The Training & Development team is dedicated to helping these organisations become
stronger and more sustainable. The team supports the workforce at all levels, from
volunteers and paid staff through to trustees. Through training, consultancy and events, we
ensure organisations not only fulfil their potential today but are still operating effectively in
years to come.

The ideal candidate

With previous experience in project administration and an understanding of the charity

sector, you will be able to work confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, providing

high-quality support to community organisations across Hertfordshire. You will be highly

organised, detail-oriented, and methodical in your approach, enabling you to effectively

oversee project processes. An ability to reach new audiences through social media

marketing would be valuable. This is a flexible and hybrid role that may develop depending

on funding and there will be lots of opportunity for professional development and training.

professionalism and a creative mindset to the team, contributing positively to a

collaborative and supportive working environment.

The role

As part of the Training & Development team you will play a key role in the administration,

delivery and monitoring of our training programme. HCF Training & Development are a

small, collaborative team who work closely with the other HCF departments in a friendly

and supportive office.  We are continually developing our training offer to best serve the

changing needs of community organisations across Hertfordshire.

Key responsibilities

Manage the administration of our training to local community organisations which includes
consultancy, grants and events.

This may include:

•  Communicating with charities, handling application forms, due diligence, liaising with

training consultants and progress tracking

•  Respond to email and telephone enquiries to the Training & Development team
•  Preparing material for grant assessment panels
•  Collating monitoring and impact data and gathering case studies from charities
•  Finance admin – invoice management and tracking
•  Support event planning
•  Preparing marketing materials eg: newsletters, social media posts, web page updates
•  Representing Training and Development at sector events
•  Experience using CRM’s eg: Salesforce

Essential experience includes:
•  A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a project administrator/coordinator/officer role in

the business, statutory or voluntary sector

•  Experience managing data
•  Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,

Word, Sharepoint)

Desirable experience includes:
•  Working or supporting voluntary and community sector organisations
•  Communicating with a range of stakeholders from CEO’s to members of the public
•  Administration of training programmes, including impact reporting
•  Marketing
•  Grant making

Required skills include:
•  Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•  Excellent organisation and time management skills

•  Creative thinking to reach our audience
•  An ability to problem solve and take initiative
•  A strong interest in supporting the voluntary sector

Flexible working considered but there is a requirement to be in the office in Hatfield 2 days
a week.
