About us

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are embarking on a bold, organisation wide transformation spanning the next 15 years, delivered through a series of ambitious 5-year plans. Our volunteers and the communities we serve sit at the heart of everything we do, and our transformation reflects that commitment: ensuring we evolve in ways that strengthen our services, empower our people and enhance our impact.

To support this, we are looking for three experienced Change Managers to join our Portfolio Delivery & Change function. These roles help to ensure that our transformation is delivered with people, not to people. You will lead, support and embed sustainable change across the organisation, working with colleagues at all levels to ensure the outcomes genuinely make a difference.

Your role

The successful candidates will provide change management expertise, advice and guidance against a change framework to support projects and programmes under the Change Portfolio. You’ll be part of a supportive and passionate team working to deliver change that truly matters. You’ll have the opportunity to shape our ways of working, influence organisational culture and help build and embed the capabilities that enable sustainable change.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Portfolio team and leaders across the organisation to ensure that change activity is effectively planned and integrated into project and programme deliverables and incorporated into measures of success.
  • Shaping clear change messages and engagement activities that sit naturally within our broader organisation direction and narrative.
  • Identifying risks, issues and dependencies across initiatives and taking proactive action to escalate and mitigate to support successful outcomes.

About you

We are looking for someone who is resilient, decisive and driven to deliver. You will bring a practical, systems thinking mindset to everything you do. You are capable of simplifying complexity, and you balance pace with delivery and impact, ensuring that change lands well for people across the organisation.

You have high levels of emotional intelligence and a natural ability to build relationships and trust with those you are supporting and coaching to keep our approach people centred.

You can ‘join the dots’ to spot dependencies, risks and opportunities and you take real ownership of outcomes focusing on meaningful change. Proactive, organised and solutions focused, you bring the credibility of proven experience in leading complex change initiatives.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Project and change management skills with clear evidence of delivering
  • Demonstrable experience in providing constructive challenge, winning support and complex stakeholder management.
  • Strong relationship management skills; collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams and ability to forge effective relationships at all levels.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a number of change activities.

While a formal change management qualification is welcomed, it is your real-world experience, knowledge and wisdom that matters more. If you think you have the necessary skills, qualities and experience and want to be part of a team where your efforts contribute to our mission then we would love to hear from you.

Safeguarding

The RNLI is committed to safeguarding; protecting a person’s health, wellbeing, and human rights, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and have a zero-tolerance approach. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out dependent on the eligibility of the role. (England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting; International, International Child Protection Certificate process).

Diversity at the RNLI

Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards Our Vision: To save Every One.
