Beaumond House
Beaumond House Hospice supports patients and their loved ones to live as fully as possible across North Nottinghamshire. Ensuring our communities receive the care and comfort they need, free of charge, when every moment matters. Our Care is provided in people's homes across our communities and at the Hospice in Newark.
We treat every person with respect. We deliver compassionate, professional care that supports physical, psychological, and spiritual needs. We look for staff and volunteers who protect dignity, safety, and confidentiality.
Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity. We provide four In-patient beds, Day Therapy, and Hospice at Home Care. Hospice at Home supports people with palliative and end of life care needs, often in the last weeks and months of life. Our nurses and health care assistants provide assessment, personal care, emotional support, advice, and advance care planning in the person’s preferred place of care.
We are contactable 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, to provide a friendly ear, general information or to signpost patients, relatives and carers to appropriate resources and services.

About the Role
The Challenges and Events Lead is an exciting, key role within the Fundraising Team at Beaumond House Hospice.
You will use your experience, creativity, and networks to inspire individuals, community groups and businesses to take part in events and challenges to raise awareness and generate income.
You will develop strong, long-lasting relationships with supporters, providing informed guidance and encouragement throughout their fundraising journey. With a warm and supporter-centred approach, you will motivate participants and ensure every interaction reflects the Hospice’s values, delivers an exceptional standard of care, and contributes to maximising income generation.
Role Outcomes
• Deliver events and challenges that inspire and engage the hospice with individuals, businesses, supporters and community members.
• Support individuals, businesses, supporters and community members with ‘Choose your own’ events and challenges in support of the hospice
• Develop and steward long-term relationships with supporters, understanding their stories and motivation for supporting the hospice.
• Grow supporter database and engagement in line with agreed KPIs each year.
• Be responsible for agreed income targets within agreed KPIs each year.

Main Duties
• Challenges and Events Activity Plan and Income Generation – Deliver planned activities on time and to budget.
Develop Supporter Relationships and Stewardship – Be the main point of contact and operational support and stewardship for challenge and event participants.
• Programme Management – Maintain and update challenge and event campaign assets.
• Data, Insight, and Continuous Improvement – Maintain accurate data, identify opportunities and segmentation insights.
• Finance, Reporting and Compliance - Ensure that all activity meets budget and regulation requirements from the fundraising code of practice, local authorities, and GDPR.
• Team Working and Volunteers – Work with wider hospice colleagues to champion challenges and events. Identifying volunteer opportunities.
Hospice Care
Challenges and Events Activity Plan and Income Generation
Work with the Head of Fundraising to research, develop and deliver innovative Hospice led challenge and events, ‘Choose your own’ strategies and programmes, identifying opportunities to grow participation to meet and exceed income generation targets.
Take the lead for key hospice led events; to include event organisation and event management, as well as working together with our Marketing & Communications Lead to ensure the promotion and marketing of events.
• To identify and secure opportunities for the hospice to be the beneficiary charity for official organised challenges and events, corporate partnerships etc.
• Plan, organise and deliver awareness events and in conjunction with the marketing team marketing strategies and plans, generating support and sign up for challenges and events.
Develop Support Relationships and Stewardship
• Provide excellent service to all supporters and stakeholders.
Develop and manage compassionate supporter journeys across our Challenges and Events portfolio including high-quality stewardship for those supporters who take on ‘Choose your own’ challenges.
• Work with colleagues across the Fundraising team to convert one off challenge supporters and event participants into lifetime supporters of the hospice.
• Maximise retention through effective stewardship, recognition, thanking with personalised engagement.
Advise and support individuals, groups, communities and businesses who are taking on a challenge or participating in an event to ensure best practice with their fundraising in line with the Fundraising Code of Practice, GDPR and other relevant regulations/legislation.
• Handle compliments and complaints promptly and professionally in line with the Beaumond House Policies.
• Utilise the CRM to its full potential to record and monitor activity, analysing data from this to inform and support activity.
Programme Management
• Ensure all challenge and events activity complies with the Fundraising Code of Practice, local authority, GDPR requirements and other relevant legislation.
• Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation and reporting of challenge and events income.
Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Lead to ensure highly effective marketing and promotion of challenge and events activities to achieve maximum exposure, engagement and sign up.
Data, Insight and Continuous Improvement
• Capture and analyse data to optimise fundraising and marketing performance.
• Stay abreast of industry best practice, insights and emerging trends.
• Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to improve systems, processes and supporter experience.
• Maintain accurate supporter data and ensure GDPR compliance.
• Use insights to inform segmentation, targeting and campaign development.
Finance, Reporting and Compliance
• In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising effectively monitor budgets for Challenges and Events activities.
Provide regular updates to the Head of Fundraising against forecasted income, expenditure and KPI performance. Advise on any anticipated financial and KPI performance shortfall in activity and together prepare and implement action plans to ensure financial targets and performance are met.
• Maintain accurate CRM and financial records, ensuring all fundraising and donations are acknowledged.
• Ensure compliance with charity law, GDPR, the Fundraising Regulator and Gambling Commission.
Team Working and Volunteers
Champion Challenge and Event activity across the Hospice and work together in line with our Hospice values to maximise fundraising opportunities.
Identify volunteer needs and in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator ensure volunteers are appropriately recruited, trained, supported and managed.
• Represent Beaumond House as an ambassador at events, meetings and presentations.
• Working collaboratively with other team members to share information and learning which benefits Beaumond House and its supporters.
Support wider fundraising activity when required.
Other Duties:
• Attend induction, mandatory training and ongoing professional development.

Skills, Experience and Attributes Required
Essential
• Demonstrable experience in Events/Business Development/Fundraising of at least 2 years.
• Event Management experience - min 1 year experience of planning and delivering. successful events, with a proven track record of achieving targets and managing budgets.
Knowledge and experience of communicating with and supporting external supporters, customers or stakeholders.
• Experience of writing and delivering activity plans and evaluating their success.
• Experience of working and collaborating as part of a team.
• Experienced and competent in the use of CRM systems, SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Strong relationship management skills with the ability to inspire and influence supporters
• Knowledge and experience of supporter stewardship journeys and processes.
• Knowledge of gift aid and data protection legislation or willingness to undertake training.
• Full driving licence and access to a car insured for business use.
Desirable
• Experience of working with and supporting volunteers as part of a team.
• Experience managing multiple projects or campaigns simultaneously
• Knowledge of legislation affecting charities to carry out fundraising activities in line with best. practice including the Fundraising Code of Practice, Charity legislation and regulations.
• Experience working within the charity sector and familiarity with UK fundraising methods.
Understanding of the UK events fundraising landscape.
• Experience of using a database and analysing data to make decisions.
• Experience of working with Digital marketing tools or digital fundraising platforms
• A sense of humour and enjoyment of a varied, challenging role.
• An inquisitive and curious mindset able to probe and identify areas of interest for campaigns.
• Skills in online and offline networking and an ability to join the dots.
