Summary

Reports to:​Venue Operations and Events Director​

Department: Events​

Salary:​ £29,000 - £32,000 per annum depending on skills and experience ​

Start date:​ ASAP​

Contract type: Full time, Permanent, 37.5 hrs minimum per week in shift rotation of 07:00 – 15:30 and 10:30 – 19:00 including an unpaid lunch break of one hour. Overtime will be paid at £20 per hour if you need to work outside of these hours.​

Key tasks ​

    • Prepare,​set-up and serve the stations for tea, coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks​receptions, ensuring they are at the highest standard.
    • ​Maintain the cleanliness of all RUSI events and meeting rooms, ensuring they are regularly checked during the day and any​catering equipment is either removed or kept tidy.
    • ​Arrange the monthly staff lunch and catering for other internal staff events, as requested.
    • ​Delegate tasks, manage and assist the waiting staff during each event, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and high standard.
    • ​Utilise the Venue Management system to get information about each event’s requirements
    • ​Maintain and establish strong relationships with suppliers.
    • ​Ensure that all food preparation areas are clean and tidy and perishable stock is maintained​
    • ​as per the use by dates and adhere to food hygiene legislation as per the Food Standards Agency guidelines.​

Person​specification ​

Essential skills and experience​

​​

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to present complex information and demonstrating strong literacy skills.
    • ​Good leadership skills and the ability to delegate tasks to others in a clear manner.
    • ​Excellent time keeping.​
    • Previous catering experience.
  • ​​


Desirable skills and experience ​

    • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook ​
    • Experience of working in a not-for-profit sector organisation. ​
