Job Purpose
We are looking for diligent, enthusiastic, and reliable individuals to join our main kitchen team at Mojos, helping to prepare, cook, and serve food to a high standard.
This role involves working evenings and weekends, as well as staying late on Wednesday nights to support our late-night food service during our weekly club night, Wednesday Union. If you enjoy a lively atmosphere and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you!
To provide exceptional service and assistance in food preparation, serving, and customer interaction. To efficiently operate catering facilities and oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Catering Supervisor.
Accountabilities:
The key accountabilities of the post holder will be to:
- Maintain up-to-date training on with specific focus on food safety and allergens and ensure strict adherence in the kitchen operations
- Supervise student staff working within Catering to ensure high standards
- Assist in the attainment of Catering KPIs in line with budgets
Responsibilities:
Café and Kitchen
- To assist with the preparation and ensuring all products are prepared to a high standard and to established recipes and guidelines and the customer’s preference
- To serve and stock food to pre-set standards
- To ensure customers are served in a timely and effective manner
- To ensure all customer queries are addressed, maintaining customer satisfaction
- To undertake cleaning as directed with adherence to COSHH regulations
- To operate a ‘clean as you go’ policy
- To process and maintain accurate transaction records for all sales
Financial & Stock
- Assist the Catering Supervisor to attain KPI’s on margins and expenditure to adhere to P&L budgets
- Maintain stock levels to ensure a full menu is always available
- Maintain stock levels to ensure a minimum amount of wastage
- To ensure good stock rotation and advise management of any stock levels that are running low
Staff Management
- Assist in the management of staff rotas to ensure opening hours are maintained within KPI’s
- Collaborate with contracted staff to ensure the best possible service as well as good value for money and adherence to the values of the organisation
General
- Develop and promote a culture of excellence in customer service, ensuring that customer needs and expectations are identified, measured and met
- Ensure all Catering operations operate in line with all relevant legislation, regulation and Reading Students’ Union policies and procedures
- Undertake any other tasks commensurate with the level of appointment that may from time to time be reasonably requested
- Follow proper food safety and hygiene protocols, including handling food safely, maintaining cleanliness in work areas, and adhering to health and safety guidelines.

- To observe and work within Health and Safety guidance as outlined in training
