Casual Lecturer in Beauty

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Beauty professional to join our team as a Casual Lecturer delivering engaging, industry-relevant learning experiences to the next generation of therapists.

Working within outstanding, industry-standard salon facilities, you will play a key role in developing learners’ practical and theoretical skills across a range of beauty disciplines, using creative approaches to teaching, assessment and digital learning.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to:

  • Undertake the teaching, assessment and coordination of programmes of study leading to qualifications within VTCT, City & Guilds in Beauty Therapy subjects (e.g., Nail Technology, Skincare, Body Massage, Facial Treatments, Hair Removal, Salon Management) from L1 through to L3 within college and local partners schools.
  • Work with receptionist and managers to ensure that commercial salons are running effectively and to support practical assessments as well as being profitable. This must also include target setting and sales Incentives for all learners to be able to promote to our client base. Support the receptionist in building a vibrant profitable client base.
  • Work with Hair and Beauty colleagues, managers, directors and stakeholders to ensure an effective learner programme of industry related workshops and masterclasses making sure that learners have a wide range of opportunities to engage with the hair and beauty industry.
  • Ensure innovation within planning, delivery and assessments in both the practical and theoretical work using digital technology within salons.
  • Prepare learners for entering competitions both Nationally and Internationally mentoring the learners through the process and accompany learners when required.
  • Accompany learner trips to a range of locations in line with the demands of the course specifications.
  • Share good practice to support CPD within the hair and beauty team.
  • Plan and effectively carry out quality assurance activities following the quality calendar within Hair and Beauty.
  • Promote full and part time curriculum courses and commercial salon to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Contribute to developing extra-curricular activities.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Beauty Therapy (e.g. Diploma/NVQ Level 3)
  • Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
  • GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • Documented evidence of ongoing appropriate Professional Development
  • L3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments
  • L3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies
  • L3 Qualification in Nails
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
  • A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
  • Awareness of key performance indicators
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
  • Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
  • Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
  • Sound understanding of digital literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly

Desirable Criteria:

  • L4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance Qualification
  • Experience in delivering specialist areas such as Electrical Treatments, Aromatherapy, or Reflexology
  • Ability to drive a college minibus

Welsh Language Requirements:

  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable
