About the role

This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established and highly valued service that makes a lifechanging difference to adult carers across Perth & Kinross. Your role will ensure that adult carers have access to learning and development opportunities to support them in their caring role and also with their own health and wellbeing.

Key Objectives

  1. Identify the learning and development needs of adult carers across Perth and Kinross. Develop and deliver an annual programme of learning and development activities to support carers in managing the impact of caring on their health and wellbeing.

  2. Coordinate training and development activities across all Carers Centre staff to ensure compliance with sector standards and maintain quality assurance.

  3. Plan, develop, promote and deliver key annual events for carers, including Carers Rights Day in November and Carers Week events in June.

  4. Collaborate with colleagues within the adult carers service to attend events and community initiatives, promoting and raising awareness of the services provided by the Carers Centre.

  5. Represent the adult carers team by attending the PKAVS Volunteer Committee.

  6. Oversee the annual survey of carers, ensuring feedback is effectively analysed and disseminated to relevant stakeholders to inform service improvement.

Core Responsibilities

Consult with adult carers to establish, develop and deliver an annual calendar of learning and personal development opportunities. Consultation will take place through both formal and informal methods. The programme will include a mix of in-person and online events, delivered during both daytime and evening sessions. Manage all administrative processes required to support the programme.

• Develop new and existing partnerships with local, regional and national organisations to support the delivery of the learning programme.

• Collect data and monitor and evaluate activities to ensure outcomes are achieved and effectively documented for carers.

• Provide data to partners and funders, including supporting evidence and documentation, to demonstrate that key objectives have been met.

• Attend training opportunities to support ongoing professional development and to enhance the learning opportunities offered to carers.

Person Specification

Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience
Experience of working within social care is an advantage
Experience in delivering learning opportunities and organising events is desirable, but astrong wilingness to learn are equally valued.
Experience of working in the Third Sector is an advantage.
Previous experience of working effectively in collaboration with a wide range of externalagencies and partners is desirable.
Understanding of issues which potentially impact adult carers.
Effective communication skills – both written and oral
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload.
Effective report writing skills.
Effective interpersonal skils – a supportive manner and positive approach
Ability to work with monitoring and evaluation frameworks
High standard of IT literacy

Employer:The post-holder shall be employed by Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Service Ltd. (a registered charity in Scotland SC 005561).
Location of Work:This post will be based at PKAVS Carers Centre, Lewis Place, North Muirton, Perth, PH1 3BD or other sites/services
Responsible To:as required by the organisation. Adult Carers Coordinator.
Probation:This post carries a 6 month probationary period.
Induction:A planned Induction Programme will be offered together with relevant job specific training.
PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups):This post requires a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check.
Offer of Employment:An offer of appointment will be made subject to two satisfactory references, PVG check, and eligibility to work in
Support and Supervision:the UK. The post holder wil receive regular support and supervision carried out by the Young Carers Coordinator.
HolidaysPKAVS determines annual leave entitlement in hours and not days to ensure equity for all employees by ensuring that staff who work variable hours/shifts do not receive either more or
less leave than colleagues who work a standard shift pattern. On appointment - 238 hours
Equivalent to 34 days (28 days annual leave and 6 public holidays)
After 2 years - 252 hours
Equivalent to 36 days (30 days annual leave and 6 public holidays)
After 3 years - 273 hours
Equivalent to 39 days (33 days annual leave and 6 public holidays)
Please note that annual leave hours stated above are based
on you working full-time. This will be calculated on a pro rata basis for part time staff.
