Job Vacancy Post: Canine Customer Service Administrator – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Responsible to: Centre Manager Salary: £25,584 per annum Objectives of Role: To provide a warm and professional welcome to all visitors, help give adopters the information about dogs that suit their needs, provide compassion and be the first point of contact for all enquires. Current as at: April 2026 Start Time: Summary: 8.30 am – 5.00pm (37.5 hours per week) Flexible to cover any shifts over 7 days. Due to the continued growth in our services, Birmingham Dogs Home needs another great person to join our team! We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with experience in excellent customer service to add to our Canine Customer Service Administrator team. If you share our passion for dogs and their welfare, then apply for this exciting opportunity to join us as a Canine Customer Service Administrator at our Wolverhampton Centre. This role will be a full-time position of 37.5 hrs per week, on a 12 month fixed term contract. Ideally the successful candidate should have excellent customer service and administration experience. As a Canine Customer Service Administrator, you will work as part of a busy team covering the front of house reception desk and be responsible for delivering an excellent customer service experience by ensuring that all visitors receive a warm, professional and personal welcome. To ensure where possible, customer enquiries and complaints are resolved at the first point of contact, both over the phone or in person. Administrative tasks to be completed accurately and within given deadlines. All telephone calls and emails must be answered promptly and efficiently, and with a friendly, professional tone. You will be responsible for keeping the reception area clean, tidy, and fully stocked at all times. You will also be responsible for promoting our services and maximising rehoming opportunities, working to Birmingham Dogs Home’s codes of practice whilst adhering to Health & Safety policies and ensure that our customers enjoy a positive, memorable, and rewarding experience. Requirements; • A positive and proactive attitude. • Reliable and diligent. • Excellent customer service experience and confidence in handling customer queries / complaints. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills which will be fully utilised as you will be dealing with customers and their pets daily. • Ability to confidently promote and enhance the services we offer. • A basic understanding of a computerised database. • Understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook. • Flexible to cover any shifts over 7 days. • Be able to multitask effectively and work in a busy environment. • Enthusiastic, motivated and be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
