Cafe Assistant/Barista Job Description

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Hours: 9:00am – 3:30pm (4:30pm during school holidays, event days, and bank holidays)
Wages: £8.00 - £12.71 per hour
Contract: Full-time, seasonal
Location: Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Brentwood, Essex
Start Date: By Friday 20th March 2026

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary has been running for 40 years and offers a home for life to over 700
neglected and unwanted animals.

For the last 10 years, we’ve opened more to the public to generate much-needed funds for the
animals. One of these improvements to the sanctuary was the development of Max’s Cafe. This has
grown from strength to strength, and we’re very proud to serve only 100% plant-based products.

We’re looking for a Café Assistant to join our friendly team in Brentwood until the end of our visitor
season (end of December).

Responsibilities include (but aren’t limited to):

•  Taking orders
•  Handling payments
•  Food & drink preparation including using a barista machine
•  Maintaining general cleanliness of Max’s Café

A level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is preferred but can be completed before starting (at no cost to the
candidate).
